Notes from Joe:

This team has no identity, and that’s what led to the decision.

Next HC will have to be able to instill an identity.

Told Willie he was all in with him in the offseason, never discussed moving up with JB.

Is now all in with JB.

It’s team first, wants a team not built around one player.

Status quo is not acceptable (then why keep Willie!!!??)

Plan is JB will be coach the rest of the season, no plans to bring anyone in midseason.

Making excuses saying its hard to turn the team around in 6-7 months.

No candidate list even started.

Will support whatever JB wants to do in terms of minutes and rotations. Doesn’t feel it’s fair to mandate what a coach should do and be able to fairly evaluate him.

Never went into coaching change conversations with players.

No concerns about traded pick and record, what’s done is done(dumbass)

Decided to start the season with Willie because he seen “some” of the Pelicans when healthy and thought he was doing a good job (dumbass again). He’s been here give him a chance with me to go forward and build.

Was looking for a team to improve every night, but kept losing the same way over and over again every night. Still looking for this with JB.

All true and some of that has been the most frustrating stuff when watching this team under Willie Green. They used to somewhat have a decent identify with good defense but that doesn’t even happen at all anymore.

So we wasted as season and gave away a top five pick when they’ve seen Willie can’t coach the last five years. Dumars should be fired for that offense alone. How fricking retarded can you be?

Yeah, but before he came here he watched a couple games and they played well so he thought Willie was a good coach….

He's not going to throw Benson under the Bus. I think Dumars would have stuck with Green if he really his guy. The fact that they didn't let Borrego go should have been a clear sign, Willie wasn't his guy and they knew they would he facing this situation at some point during the season.

Most people don't watch us that close, so they don't have any idea. The move needed to happen. Green lost the locker room, and it was snowballing. We had to make a change.

All that said, he has a point about those 3 players being out. That is literally 3 out of our top 4 players. There is no team in the league that would be a contender or seriously competitive if you removed their star player and 2 other major starters. It just doesn't happen. That's why we need players to play. Nothing else matters if that's not happening..

I’m sure the players were just as frustrated with doing the same thing over and over.

Trey is also so happy with James as a new coach.
-How is the team taking the news and how was practice today?
*Practice was good. I feel guys had a little bit of energy today :)
I got a lot of respect for him, but it's business, so we have to move on.
-What can Borrego bring?
*Another level of energy (which is not very hard to be honest).
I am excited to hear what he has to say about different offensive things.
-Does it make you very confident he can lead that group and turn things around?
*Very confident!
-How much he can change in the middle of the season?
* A lot!

To be competitive, sure, it's unrealistic to expect wins with talent injured, but even when players are out teams should still be able to run offensive sets and maintain some identity. Young guys need to show improvement and tradable assets need to show some value. Last night's game was just another example of Willie being unable to construct an offense. There was so much iso that it might as well have been a pickup game.
