Ive seen a few comments, some from posters whose opinions Ive come to respect following this board since the Boogie trade.

I cannot figure out where the hate for Ball's play is stemming from.

While finding confidence in his retooled shot, Balls taking a pretty decent volume of 3s and making near 37%. Hes still bringing the skills we knew he possessed. I know the criticisms have to go deeper than a 3 of 12 shooting night from downtown vs Dallas.

What am I missing?

I think Zion being out is really limiting how useful he can be to the team. Lonzo's passing matched with Zion's freakish ability should put a lot of pressure on defenses.

I suspect its coming from the few ill-advised threes he takes a game. Those can be frustrating to watch, and cloud judgment on or ignore other aspects of his game.

Taking too many bad threes and not even trying to drive the lane. His defense looks worse than advertised so far as well. Doesn’t mean much through 4 games but I hope this isn’t how he continues to play.

Because this board thinks Ball is supposed to be an allstar. So his performance to them so far is a massive disappointment.

I still don’t understand the obsession. He’s a throwback point in todays nba. 10/7/5 is what we should expect. Maybe 15 pts a game if he figures it out.

Ball is very temporary on this team. Don’t get too attached. The tank is in full effect, and he will be on his way out soon.

36.7 % on 7.5 attempts is stupid. He's james hardening it out there without the foul shots.

I just don't see any intensity in his on-court demeanor. No fire. Looks disinterested...almost as if he's just playing out the string till he's shipped out.

Nah that’s how he’s always been or looks on the court. I wouldn’t dig deeper into that

I'm just disappointed in his shot selection, he's smarter than that. He should absolutely not be taking 9 threes in a game.

This is what I noticed when I went to the Dallas game.

Dribble penetration leading to an easy bucket. Not saying he can’t do it though.

Some people just complain about the threes.

I’ve seen some including some of the esteemed bloggers complain he’s not penetrating into the paint enough.

My thing is, he has a 7 to 1 assist to turnover ratio, and we aren’t making any concerted effort to run the offense through Lonzo. We throw the ball up as fast as we can to whoever, make one or two passes, and shoot a three. I don’t see a lot of pick and roll in a half court offense with Lonzo, but apparently the 2 times a game we run it, Lonzo should get into the paint more.

My other thing is, if you bench Lonzo, who do you put in. No one else on the team aside from NAW even has the potential to create for others.

Until we are either willing to play Hayes, or Zion comes back, I don’t think anything is going to change. Because running pick and roll with Favors/Jah/Melli is kind of depressing.

He needs to get to the line more and he needs to find more ways to score. Don’t like that the majority of his shots involves launching threes. It’s no wonder his field goal percentage is so low. I don’t mind him launching threes on catch and shoot plays. I don’t like his habit of taking step backs and taking the majority of his threes before initiating the offense. He needs to find that balance.

I definitely agree. His shot selection needs improvement.

I think it's the 3s but I also take a closer look at the offense. We aren't running it through him (A), we also aren't running an offense at all (b), which results in a bunch of standing around and bad playing in general.

His defense hasn't been as good as we know it could be, but what players has not begun to play trashly (lol) overall since they've came here. Highly touted defensive guy, and the team is porous like sponges. Blame new players if you want but don't blame them on the run away from the 3 point shooters to play the inside man.

If any team had a scout worth a grain of salt I would put all shooters on the court with a guy who can stand by the paint and a driver and watch us all collapse and leave the shooter open. That's how you beat us and that's what GS did smh. No adaptation, no skills, no IQ to change.

It's funny because when Zion comes back, I so hope they switch the offense up because it may result in more standing and watching. There's just no motion on offense.

Wait...you are upset with him shooting nearly 37% from 3? Did you mistype that?
