What's your philosophy on age as far as trades?

Do you have a cut off?
Like, I will not trade major assets for any player over XX years?
Mine would probably be around 32.
That's why I'd never trade for guys like KD, George, Dame, etc.
I think there's a greater chance they're out of the league in two years or basically shells of themselves than capable of leading teams to a title.
Lebron is an outlier. Most players aren't genetic freaks with the access to the best dope in the world.

Im about the same. Im not blowing major assets on an aging small guard in Dame. He had the best season of his career last year and portland was still in the gutter. If i was miami then yeah i'd go for dame but we're so far from miami that its not worth it for us

In general, or for this team?
There are definitely some situations where trading for an older star makes sense and I would do it. Not for this roster though

Dame’s team last year was utter garbage. I also believe guys like Dame age a bit differently (see Steph). If the goal is to win a title, cash in your chips get Dame and see if you can do it in 2 years.

Kd, George, and Dame will not be out of the league in 2 years. I do get your Point though.
I'm not a huge fan of trading for a vet with a 47 mil salary.

Depends on the cost, but if we are sending out real assets, I don't want anyone in their 30's because we are more than a couple years from contention anyway you look at it.

Depends who it is.. 32 is probably the absolute peak age for a player in terms of ability, experience, still having sharp fitness.
There are countless players between 32-36 who are at their peak. If you picked Steph curry, KD, Lebron up at 32 for 4 years.. that’s a good pick up!
It’s just the salaries are also extortionate.
So I guess it depends on the player and if you’re pushing all in on a chip!
That’s a long winded way of saying I kinda agree with the OP….
