Yes. If the schedule goes as everyone thinks we will play Memphis 2 more times...then two more times again in the play in tournament.

TBH idk if memphis even makes the 9 spot. Their speculated schedule is stacked. I could see them going 3-5 or maybe even worse.

Even if they go 3-5, 2 teams would have to jump them to kick them out of the 9. That means 2 teams would have to make up over 4 games on them in 8 games which is pretty difficult.

If Memphis goes 3-5, 2 out of the Pels, Blazers, Kings and (maybe - not sure on tie breaks) Spurs would have to go 7-1 or 8-0 in order for the Grizz to not be in the 9 seed. I'm not saying it's impossible, but the Grizz are going to have to completely fall apart for them to not at least be the 9.

They have to go like 2-6 and another team has to go 6-2 to pass them.

I could see that happening.

Pels schedule is as favorable as they come. Portland, fully healthy with their backs against the wall can do it too.

Memphis has the toughest schedule outside of the suns.

It'll be too tough. 10 games, maybe. 8 is slicing it pretty thin.

We don't know how seriously the best teams are going to take these last 8 games. Teams not in danger of losing seeding (or who want a different matchup) may not be taking this seriously at all...

Which means the HARDER teams will actually be much easier games than the ones against lower seeds trying to make it in.

If those schedules stick we are in great shape. We play 5 of 8 games against Western Congerwnce bubble teams and 1 against Washington.

It’s better to have those teams you are competing against on the schedule as you can double up. You get a win AND give them a loss. We are the best team in competition for 8 and I think we have a great shot at the play-in tournament(series?).

No, they aren't going to be taking it easy. They will be working hard to regain chemistry to get ready for playoffs. I don't see stars resting much if at all, especially without the demands of travel.

This.

I think the whole meme of top teams coasting/resting is overblown by fans. Sure I could see where guys like AD and Bron are put on a minutes restriction for the first couple games, but all 22 of these teams will be taking every game seriously.

I would suspect we would play the Wizards at least once. We didn't play them at all before the virus and were supposed to play them twice at the end of our original schedule. Seems like the NBA would want every team to at least play one another once if they can help it.

yeah that’s a possibility you have to worry about. On the other hand you’d have to think these high seed playoff teams aren’t gonna waste opportunities to get their game acclimated and ready to go come playoff time. Dicking around for these 8 games would be dumb on their part imo

It’s nowhere near as favorable as it was though. They had 2 matchups against Atlanta, 2 against Washington, 1 against Charlotte. Maybe they let them play the Wizards for a game I dunno. It’s just going to be really difficult to get in and it doesn’t sit well with me that Memphis gets to benefit from having 10 games chopped from a brutal schedule. I’m confident both Portland and Nola would’ve passed them had everything played out. I wish they would’ve just set it as a few games then go in to group play World Cup style.

memphis schedule
appears to vary from pels as quoted in thread.

memphis
back to back vs pels 6 and 7th games. maybe pels do have a game while memphis rests.

memphis will have to earn it.

Portland hair on fire to open.

here is pels as in op

I don't think that's going to happen. They are going to reorder games to prevent it. There's not enough time to play the games in order while some teams rest.
