Not realy an option as we need assets for him, but lest’s say that he did play for just this season.

Would the Pelicans be the favorite to win it all next season?

Yea, that team chemistry will come together nicely.

I’ve given that some thought, but I think Davis has burnt so many bridges, it would be difficult to convince fans to try and make a title run with a guy everyone hates now. Better off just getting the compensation and moving on. Also, throw in that he will half-arse it when the team is struggling like he did this past season.

AD would have to break up with LeBron first for it to have a shot at working. I don’t see that happening.

It is actually not a bad idea.

I bet by trade deadline you could still get Ingram, Ball, and Hart from the Lakers. Which is only worse by the 4th pick the Lakers are offering now.

Davis might stay if things look awesome in New Orleans by then.

But if you are the number 1 seed l, and Davis wants to stay you could convince Davis to sign that supermax.

I've had the same thought. Could we sign him to the max contract with the understanding of trading him to either Lakers or Clippers providing a fair offer is negotiated? That may take a "silent" handshake and a wink wink. I understand there is always that risk if injury too. Bridges burned by AD. But if Dat Trophy is the real goal?
In a perfect world.....

No. One of the consequences of signing the Designated Veteran Extension is that the player can't be traded for a year after he signs it.

the alternative to pick up his PO is always available though.
at some point he’s got to give a little if it gets him what he wants...if he was actually the one making these decisions

I just don’t understand the Lebron or bust thing at all

Id rather watch us be legit bad and growing as a team than be a semi competitive team and have ADs toxic attitude around these guys. I honestly dont want AD anywhere near Zion.

Ive thought alot about "if we're asking other teams to trust that they can convince him to resign, why aren't we?" The problem is there's just too much crap now. If we kept him I could see him turning the tables and sitting out games. Even if he did play it would be so lifeless and worthless defeating the "let's make a run at it with him" idea.

It just wouldn't work here trying to play that game of chicken at the trade deadline

Lebron must be a freak in the sheets for AD to be this damn committed to leaving and going to that dumpster fire

I think AD is the truest definition of a follower. Doesn’t want to make a decision for himself

That's the intent of signing the max and playing one year with Jrue and Zion. Stay One Year!

AD is kind of like that really big, tough guy in the prison that no one messes with, but he has the mind of a child.

Rich Paul and LeBron are like the prison gang that recognizes that he’s easily manipulated and exploits him.

He thinks he’s gained membership into a group that accepts him and respects him, when in actuality they’re just using him to do their dirty work and view him as a pawn in their scheme.

How does Davis staying make this team any better than last season? The only current difference is swapping out Randle for Zion. Randle averaged 20/10 and was pretty f'n good. This team doesn't even make the playoffs with Davis..

Randle’s defense, or lack thereof, doesn’t really reflect in his offensive stats.
