“I’m not going to say they’re not a good team,” he said. “I don’t think this really matters. I think when we get them on our home court, it’s going to be a different game. I hope that they’re healthy. It’s going to be the same outcome.”“I don’t go into any game saying we’re going to lose,” said Butler, who is coming off a 30-point performance against the Cavaliers. “But we’re gonna get a dub. It’s on our home floor, anyways We will be fine.”
quote:

All Butler knows is that he has moved beyond last month’s scrap, but not beyond trying to get some of his lost wages back.
“There is a freakin’ memory,” he said. “I got fined a lot of money. I don’t give a damn about tensions flaring and all of that. I’ve got kids. I’ve got diapers, baby food. That’s all I’m worried about, trying to get my bread back.” We need Zion to take over tonight

I think this team comes with a passion tonight not just cause its the Heat but also the BI injury last night. These guys will make it a tough game- whether that’s enough- we’ll see.

Team folded and clammed up after the Heat scuffle unlike anything I’d ever seen.

This team doesn’t respond well when they get punched in the mouth and the league knows it.

Heat will be looking for the knockout punch early on tonight.

Wtf?? No they didn’t. I thought they fought back and honestly was one of the better back/forth games we had. We just missed everything from outside. Refs were letting Zion get hacked like crazy too. If the Heat play us the same way and give us all those open 3s- I doubt we miss at same rate like last time.

What a terrible take. After the ejections they were down to Zion and Herb as their only ball handlers. No BI, CJ, or even Jose and Naji.

So that gives the team an excuse to score 4 points in the final 8 minutes and 30 seconds of an NBA game at home? Zion can’t score 4 points himself let alone the entire team?

I had to go back and look because I specifically remember shortly after that fight the team folded. Wasn’t just clanking missed shots either. Murphy specifically was ice cold and the dude refused to show an ounce of effort on the defensive end. That’s why he got fricking benched for JRE and I was criticized for admitting that was the right move at the right time.

So yeah if only scoring 4 points in the last 8:30 of regulation isn’t clamming up then please tell me what is.

They lost Jose and Naji for thr game and we didn’t have BI. On top of that we literally were missing all our open shots. Its not clamming up when you don’t have 3 rotation guys down the stretch. Thats not the team folding. That was one of the better games where we fought but we were short handed. There are games where we failed in the clutch but thr circumstances against the Heat were not the same.

"I had 3 flats and my car wouldn't keep driving. It's a total POS." is basically what you're saying.

Would it have been nice if Zion could have beasted out and won the game, yes. But it is not surprising that the team couldn't maintain their energy or offense while missing the 2 main energy guys and 4 of the top 6 ball handlers.

Also, if that's the worst you've seen this team "clam up" like "nothing you've ever seen" I'd argue you haven't watched nearly as many Pels games a user name of DatPelican would suggest. There have been much worse collapses by this team.

I'm not saying it was an effort to be proud of, it just wasn't unexpected or particularly extraordinary for this team, which is what your initial comment suggested.

Honestly I thought the Heat loss- was one of the good losses. Meaning due to all the guys out we still fought tooth and nail-we just didn’t have enough. If people dont get how guys being out affects a team down the stretch I don’t know what to tell them.

I just don’t see this. The team is soft and my bet is they fold tonight. I hope not but the team is typically a reflection of the coach.

They will if we play like last night...undisciplined. CJ should not act like he's MJ's second coming. Run everything through Z and play smart defense...which they didn't do last night. Give Matt a little run too. Hard to watch a game when you don't know what team you're getting on that day.

Willie has coaching tactical issues but I wouldn’t call him “soft.” My bet is they actually come out motivated to win and play hard. I mean we lost against the Heat but considering we physically fought with them- I wouldn’t call that soft.

How many techs has he gotten? The officials don’t fear or respect him. That’s why we get zero calls.

So hes soft because he doesn’t get technicals? So you must love Draymond Green. I agree it wouldn’t hurt if he got more techs but saying we’ll lose the game because Willie soft due to him not getting technicals is an interesting argument.

The narrative of the Pels being weak and folding is nothing more than emotional message board fodder.

Nah dude this team cowers when playoff teams punch them. Its easy to beat up on lottery teams but what are you gonna do when the Heat punch you? Or the Celtics? Or the Nuggets?
