‘Sons’ ....

I’m flying over next week...looks like I’ve timed it well with the playoff push. I’m catching the T’wovles and Heat games...hoping for big crowds and 2 W’s!

That aside... there’s the Lakers game as soon as I land and Dallas ...where is the best place to catch these games on tv?

I’m gonna be pretty near bourbon ... Assume there’s some good sports bars around?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for visting!

Eh. Not that many "good" sports bars in the FQ to be honest (but I don't think much of a lot in the FQ).

Deuce McCallister's Ole Saint or Crescent City Brew House are your best bets in the FQ probably.

If you are looking for advice on restaurants, tell me what you're looking for and happy to give advice.

The FQ is limited on traditional sports bars, but the American Sports Saloon on Decatur has a lot of TVs and decent pub fare that should suit your needs. Will definitely be people locked in on the Pels game.

If you want a really short Uber to a better sports bar you can try the Rusty Nail over in Warehouse District.

Manning's is overpriced but it's nice inside and it's definitely the biggest with the most TVs. You can walk there from the FQ as well.

Thank you!

Frankly I’m coming over to watch 2 games and get some Zion.

Anything else is a bonus. I’ve got 6 nights so will be eating out so anywhere recommended is good.

I’m just off canal street Lafayette side...will visit FQ but not glued to it if there’s somewhere amazing around to catch a game on TV and drink beer and get fat. Woooo!

Well that'd be redundant.

That's a long trip. I recommend doing some research and picking good spots to eat.

New Orleans is a world class culinary city but it is absolutely riddle with shitty tourist traps, just like any tourist city. Just walking into a place at random is not recommended.

Can you tell me a little bit about budget and your culinary tastes and we can point you in the direction of what will your needs.

If the weather is nice, you can either take an Uber to Midcity and sit outside and watch the game at Bayou Beer/Wine Garden...they have crawfish on weekends so that would be good for you! Also in that area is Wrong Iron, another popular, outdoor beer/wine garden.

You can also head Uptown and watch it at Tracey's Irish Pub which is a lively atmosphere.

Food options that are decent to good are numerous near where you are staying, so some thoughts on what you're looking for could be helpful.

Not for food. Experience sure. It’s old and a pretty restaurant.

You can get a somewhat similar experience at Commanders Palace with infinitely better food.

Commanders, Arnaud's, Galatoire, Broussards, Irene Cuisine, Pelican Club is awesome, are all excellent.

All but Commander's is in quarter.

Mr. B's is good.

Look, Mannings will be a fine venue for drinking some beer and watching a game, but please do not judge nola based on the culinary offerings at mannings.

Food wise it's a D lister in Nola.

Definitely go to Commanders. If you want to try an excellent restaurant that isn't part of the old guard you can do Restaurant R'evolution. It's in the quarter. IMO the best meal I've had in town. The gumbo is fire.

Paladar 511 is really good too (just ask JJ).

If you want poboys, go to parkway and get the roast beef, shrimp or both.

Manning’s is not good at all food wise. Get a few drinks, watch game, eat at better places nearby.

Compere Lapin, Peche, Cochon are all relatively nearby and all wonderful.

This is like when someone on the food board asks for deep dish pizza recs in Chicago and AnitaFan chimes in and says “yOu ShOuLd Go To AlInEa”

This is British, doesn’t sound like he cares about food, and is coming to consume sports. Dude will be in heaven at Manning’s and know none the better

Manning's and Tracey's sometime becomes the official team bar. They'll have the mascot and dance team there, do give aways. Fun when they do that.

Off Topic - But if you’re looking to catch any Premier League or Champions League matches take an Uber to Finn McCools in Mid City. Ryan’s Pub in the quarter is also an option if you want to stay close

French Quarter is ok for one or two days, tops.

There’s also:

Warehouse District and Uptown ( especially Magazine Street and Lower Garden District)
