Taking off our P&G glasses I could see Tremont having a very good career in the league as a PG. Great vision, great passing, great shooting. He has that IT factor at the end of games. I feel if he was 2”-3” taller he would be a lotto pick. The only thing he sacrifices imho is height on defense. He has pesky hands though which may make up for it. I think he will be one of the steals of the draft.

I would love to see the Pels grab him in the late second and give him a shot at being a situational player. Thoughts?

Thoughts?

His height is a concern though when you have to guard all star caliber PGs who are much taller.

I love Waters but he’s a more athletic better defender Tim Frazier. He’ll be a journeyman with the occasional big game

Superstars don’t normally land in the second round. If he is there in the second, you take him. He adds a spark on the bench that can score, find the open man, and create turnovers. He is worth a shot.

If he shoots anything like steph curry, i don't care about his height nor defense. He can handle ball and will be a great shooter. I'm all for it.

Here is my .02...

Waters could be a good back up PG and give you 15-20 minutes of hustle his arse off minutes off of the bench. That to me is worth a 2nd and this team could greatly benefit from a guy like that.

No one said he was gonna be a superstar. The guy could probably be a career backup PG. The guy has everything but height. Can finish, is a *decent* shooter (keep in mind he lit it up at the combine from NBA depth), gets a ton of steals, and can make some crafty passes. I’d take a flier on him in the second for sure.

He’s a shoot first PG who can’t shoot. He totally needs to revamp his game to play in the nba

Height is a huge concern but he does get a lot of steals. Not sure how well that will translate to the next level, but I'll leave my P&G glasses on and be happy to see the Pelicans give an ex Tiger a shot.

I mean... no.
He's a scorer, yes. But a "shoot first PG", no. He loves assists and his biggest asset is court vision and setting up shots with his creation and driving.

"who cant shoot" - Geez. Guess you're comparing him to Curry, Klay and JJ Redick??? Those are outliers Mr Dramatic.
There's multiple reports and video out of NBA Combine of him tearing it up from deep. And literally every game the broadcasts says the defenders better get on him at half court bc he can tear you up if you sag off of him. But he cant shoot huh. Maybe youd want to call him streaky. But hes still learning and will only get better.

Maybe you dont think he'll be a good player and thats fine. But dont spew bullshite

Considering how often ANY team really hits on second round picks, I think it's a no-brainer to use one on Waters. Why? Lets see:
- Position/skill set of need? Check
- Good defense? Check (hard to find in the league)
- Local product, i.e. good marketing? Check

IMO, you don't need anything more than those to burn a second rounder.

Nah, he’s a shoot first guy with a bad shot selection which leads to inconsistent shooting. He can get hot for 10 games then bomb for 10 which happened this past year. As a Freshman shot 36%fg & 29% 3pt in SEC games.

If he can be a pass first guy who picks his spots to score he can be a bench guy. He has shown no inclination to do that

I think all 3 LSU prospects have some upside, with none being complete players and all requiring a lot of development.

I think Reid probably has then highest ceiling. I wouldn’t be upset if we took a flyer on him in the second round. Flawed player, but young and potential is there.

Waters I could see developing into a decent role player, but I think the Tim Frazier comment is spot on. His ceiling is like a plus Tim Frazier.

If I’m Tremont, I beg E’tuan Moore to work out with me so I could study his floater. If Waters can develop a shot like Moore’s floater, he could be a decent NBA role player (as opposed to a good overseas player).

I could see Kavell Bigby-Williams developing into a decent role player and back-up rebounder and rim protector. He has the least upside, but is good at the things he does well. His free throw shooting would suggest there’s a possibility he could develop a mid-range shot and be slightly more of an offensive weapon than just a put-back specialist.

He’s likely undrafted, but he may develop enough to be a situational NBA backup a year or two down the road. Would need to add 10-20 pounds without losing any athleticism.

Bc that wasnt his role. I mean he was aruably our best player and most natural scorer. Maybe you can say Reid or Smart but Waters was the facilitator for LSU.
He was needed to be the scorer. Players are capable of adapting to do what the team needs..... I think Tremont certainly has the skills to be a guy of bench who can create for shooters

Yeah, I actually thought he needed to shoot more at LSU.

I think he could carve out a niche as a first guard off of the bench. Unless he gets the bad turnovers in check, it’ll be hard to keep a starting job
