ESPN Sources: Denver is trading F JaMychal Green and a protected 2027 first-round pick to Oklahoma City for the No. 30 pick in this month’s NBA Draft and two future second-round picks. Nuggets have No. 21 and 30 in this draft now and Thunder has Nos. 2, 12 and 34.

Green has a $8.2M player option for 2022/23 and the trade will get finalized once he opts-in to his contract. OKC will absorb the Green salary with the $32M in available cap space. That room goes away starting on 7/1.

OKC actually GAVE a pick!!!??

The Houston Rockets are finalizing a deal to trade Christian Wood to the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

I find this interesting from the Pels perspective...wonder if this grows into a three-team trade on draft night? Green would be a nice fit...

Nuggets gonna trade those picks to make sure they can pair Nikola Jokic with Nikola Jovic.

Yeah I was actually just coming to post this one.

I think OKC just has too many damn picks and preferred getting a contract that gets them closer to the cap floor and kicking the pick can down the road.

I feel like Denver may now try and package 21&30 to see if they can move up 2-3 spots.

This is the only offseason I can remember where I don't want to trade 80% of the team.

Only dudes I wouldn't miss would be Jax and Graham. Temple too I guess but he's trade fodder for the deadline.

Basically just moved the last pick in the 1st round for a future 1st. Good move on their part to move assets down the road given how many picks they have this year and next.

Especially when they already have the 34th pick.

Right. And a team like us wouldn’t be interested in 30 to move down.

We’d be interested in future picks.

I want us to improve any way possible, but a "run it back but with Zion" is a damn good team. This coming season can't get here fast enough.

The Atlanta Hawks are looking to add a lottery pick and John Collins is a candidate to be moved, per @KevinOConnorNBA

Hmmmm

OKC: 8, Graham
Atl: 12, Temple
Pels: 16, Huerter, future 1st from OKC

Opens up a spot and gets us way below the tax line, we still have the ability to try to grab a high upside player at 16 like Hardy.

I have read rumors of Atlanta trying to get to possibly 6 if Ivey falls or 7. Collins could be involved in those talks.

Apparently if we wanted to send Temple or Graham to OKC we need to do it now so the trade could be finalized with this year’s cap.

If we wait until draft night, the trade wouldn’t be official until the new league year starts, and OKC will be over the cap so they can’t take on salary at that point.

If OKC wants to maximize its warchest, they should be punting these late first down the road to spread out their picks. They could literally have 2 first round picks every year for a decade if they follow that process.

OKC would have the ability to send Green to Atl in that deal to make salaries work

Doesn’t OKC still have the buyout of Kemba Walker on their books as dead cap? Last I saw it was like a $20m+ charge.

They had 31 mill in cap space for this past season before this deal.

Once the new league year starts they will be over the cap.

How can they make trades with the playoffs still going?

Is it just a verbal deal until the season is over?

I think you are allowed to make deals between the end of the season and the draft so that they can be executed on the current league year.

IIRC, main rules are that it has to be players currently under contract for the next year (team options included). No RFAs, no sign and trades.

I saw it on twitter.

I didn't follow up to see if that was correct. It appears to be wrong unless they know something I don't.

(it could be right if you factor in Green, the 2nd and 12th picks. I'm not doing the math)
