This Week for the Pelicans

Tuesday at Home vs Bucks.
Wednesday at Memphis.
Friday at Home vs Suns.
The first week was sorrowful. However, there is no reason Gentry and staff cant win 2 of 3. The bucks are solid and seem to stick to roles. As far as Memphis, if im gambling, will take them. Then Suns back at home should be a win (like the nuggets).
Know Hield is a rookie but i would try him starting to shake nerves off early. Jones is helping well off bench and Stephenson will take over more minutes the way this looks. Would give Frazier a decent grade for first week and thinks he works well with AD. And ready for Tyreke to be back.
Anyways, trying to stay optimistic because this is an easier week than last.

believe me, I would be ecstatic if we went 3-0 this week, however, I don't see us winning a single game this week. this roster is AWFUL. With the current roster, we will be getting 76ers-like results.

I'm with you OP
rough schedule and matchups in the first week
if they can't handle Milwaukee and Phoenix then we will know

Buddy Hield played 17 minutes and once again had a quiet game offensively, hitting 1 of 6 shots for two points. He also let a pass slip through his hands and out of bounds when he was wide open under the basket.
I expected way more.
I hope he can get over his anxiety.

I saw a junior high kid do that once. I don't think I ever saw a college player do that.

Narrative with 0-3 week will always be bad.
With upcoming 3 winnable games everything will look different.
Media opinions. Internal grow.
Relax and wait.
Evaluate after 8-10 games...

One game at a time...if Buddy hits shots against MIL I'm happy.

You haven't watched much basketball then.

Keep in mind we played the warriors and the spurs... and for at least some of the games we showed decent flashes and stayed in the game for a little while.
The nuggets are awful, that is a game we should've won

Being optimistic, I don't think it's outrageous to say we could be 6-6 by mid-November. This would give us two wins over the Bucks and wins over the Suns, Magic, Kings, and Lakers. Loses to GS, Memphis, and Boston.
That's a least a plausible scenario. If you can pull that off, you're getting into the window where Jrue, Tyreke, and QPon will start to return and we'd still be in a decent position in the standings.
We'll see I guess.

The Nuggets main core have been together for a few years and they are definitely not awful. They lost to Portland by 2pts and Toronto by 3pts - and only beat us because AD's support cast sucked on opening night.
You are right though, we've played the 2 top teams in the West and even without 30 points from Jrue and Tyreke we hung with those guys for a few quarters. 3-0 this week is possible if we can get at least 10 pts from Solomon Hill and E'twaun Moore.

I say 3-9 or worse is far more likely than 6-6.
Look at every game. Pels have the best player. The other team usually has 2-6; sometime 2-8 or 9

What do you make of the 13th ranked defense after facing 2 top offenses? Small Sample Size Fluke, or something they might be able to ride to get some unexpected wins?

I'd be happy to see these outside shooters start making some shots. That's pretty much where my expectations are for this week regardless of wins and losses.

When the sample size is this small, the difference between 13 and 28 is a couple of made or missed baskets. I take nothing from it, especially when Denver was so careless with the ball, GSW are still working things out, and the Spurs played 4 guys I honestly never heard of

another question- do we believe in the Pels current top 10 DREB%? or will that fall off a cliff soon?
Posted on 11/1/16 at 3:08 pm to corndeaux
I don't believe in it because if you watched the last two games neither team was really crashing the offensive boards out of scheme.

I don't. They did it against 2 teams that schematically don't try to get offensive rebounds. I was looking at the Reb% of the team today and outside of AD, Frazier and maybe Cunnnigham if you count him as a SF, nobody has a good rebounding rate for their position. Even Asik isn't rebounding in the ball park of what he normally does.
