I'd rather have Hasheem Thabeet. He may suck, but at least he sucks ON the court.

With so many teams "tanking" in '14, Zaza's market value is just a tad diluted.

Zaza should be Option A, even ahead of Chandler. And you know I love me some Wilson Chandler

But I'd rather keep Jason Smith as the back up center and try to get a starting caliber 5

I can't see where that's even remotely possible. We don't have the money to go out there and get a legit 5 starter (not to mention there really aren't any available in FA this year...other than DH12).

Agreed. Would be an upgrade defensively, and rebounding over RoLo.

I agree that Zaza is probably the best option at 5.

I would be concerned about Atl throwing him a big deal just so they can meet the salary floor though. Who knows.

Going to laugh so hard if that's what they have to do after striking out on Smoove and Howard

Well, they likely will strike out on both.

So they'll want to tank, but they need to spend SOME money.

Maybe they go after Carl Landry on a one year deal for 10 mill.

I'm not saying starter in an all star game. Just someone who has started A game in the past two years. I just don't see Oden as much more than a bench player with limited minutes. I could be wrong and he could be a huge coup.

Can we afford JJ Hickson or Kaman?
Zaza?
Brandan Wright?
Byron Mullens?
Marreese Speights?

Gets to the line a ton and makes foul shots.

Very good rebounder for a guy that is not that athletic, competes down low.

He won't block shots but he is not afraid to give a hard foul.

He's also a pretty good shooter from the mid-range which helps expand the floor even more so.

I think at this point, I'm strongly leaning towards spending more money on a Center like Zaza and just using the Room Exception on whatever SF we can wrangle up, and then looking for some bargain basement Wings for the minimum.

I think Zaza would give us another dimension, and take a lot of pressure off of AD. We're going to have some guys jacking up some shots, and we need someone that can clean the boards a bit.

11.9 R/40

for people that want a comparison, Lopez pulled in rebounds at an 8.7 R/40 rate

My ideal scenario: Get Zaza for 5 million, Carlos Delfino for the remaining 1.7, and use the Room Exception on Aminu (or Ingles).

I think obviously Delfino and Aminu/Ingles are possibly doable at those salaries. The only team Delfino has gotten a sniff from, from what I can see, is in China.

I think Zaza gets more than 5 though. A lot more.

I thought he would initially as well so I kind of wrote him off as a possibility.

But with so many teams "tanking" and not wanting to commit to a long-term contract, thats where the Pelicans' offer of a multi-year deal could be more appealing.

Not a center.

Byron Mullens?

Basically a Lopez who shoots 3s

Just opted out of deal that pays him $4.5m to chase more money.

Depending on what is spent on a SF, I think we need to lower expectations on a center. Cole Aldrich, Dalembert, Pryzbilla, Thabeet, maybe a Greg Stiemmsa

Marcus Camby, part of Bargnani deal, has asked #Raptors for trade or buyout. Could join free-agent market pool soon nyp.st/16bVkH7

Fun fact: Camby has been in the league 3 years less than Davis has been alive.
