Yeah, nobody really has leverage. There are quite a few good coaching candidates and there aren't really any bad jobs on the market right now. OKC is a rebuilding situation, but that's how first time head coaches often get their experience. Houston's ownership is bad, but they have a good GM and a middle tier playoff team in place.

Both sides just need to be patient and not blink.

Clippers and rockets have all the leverage in the world... that’s two stacked teams. Everyone else is on a different tier

Rockets have a stacked team of players in their prime with no cap space but can’t win a championship. No thanks.

Which means we shouldn't expect to hear anything regarding us hiring a HC until at least late next week.

I don't think we are going to make a decision until Lue does.

Assistants are starting to get eaten up.

Was kinda hoping we would have a coach before the Lakers left the bubble. That way we would not have to worry about Kidd.

Tyronn Lue has arrived in Houston, per this video from

League sources say Lue and the Rockets will formally meet Monday to discuss Houston's coaching vacancy
With any luck we find out what Lue's gonna do early next week.

Feels like Griffin's chasing a girl that friendzoned him a long time ago.

As long as their other top choices are still available, does it matter? If Atkinson comes off the board, then missing out on Lue could feel like you got forced to your 3rd or worse choice. But if Lue gets snapped up and the Pels hire Atkinson with someone like Weaver, I don't think people will be complaining.

Tyronn Lue in Houston to interview w/ the #Rockets: “It means a lot just to have an opportunity to come in & interview for a head coaching job here in Houston. It’s very exciting..having an opportunity to have a chance to coach 2 MVP players in Russell Westbrook & James Harden..”

This is the first time I think we’ve seen a direct quote from Lue in all this. 2 MVPs. Seems like a shot at the Clippers after leaking the Mike Brown news. "I am worth the exorbitant amount of money I asked for."

Might be curtains for this thread...

The Rockets are competing with the Clippers for Lue and could try to extend an offer before Los Angeles has completed its search process, but that isn't expected to happen before Houston meets with former coach Jeff Van Gundy this week, sources said. LINK
Woj doesn't even mention New Orleans in connection with Lue.

They are meeting with JVG tomorrow and Lucas later in the week so I do not think that Lue to them is a done deal.

However...the fit makes sense, and if Tillman isn't being cheap, its a good match.

I wish Lue well if he takes it. But not that well.

I look forward to the smart choice Griffin makes a few days later that doesn't consist of Jason Kidd or Mark Jackson.

Sure seems like Griffin is waiting out Lue. If we do not get Lue, I sure hope we do not settle for Kidd.
