Wow so Memphis has to play LAL on the second game of btb then LAL has to play us on second game of btb. Everything going our way lately

Yeah but Green and James are probably out for Memphis. I'm sure they're resting and will be back for us. I'd guess Lakers want Memphis in the 8th more than us.

There is no doubt in my mind that the team the Lakers do not want to play in the first round are the Pels.

LSU_504 or anyone who may know

How many games back were the Pelicans on Jan 21st? The day before Zion played his first game. I feel like it was 9 but cannot seem to find a google source.

Only 3.5

Historical League Standings

Most was probably when we were 6-22. We were 7.5 games back of 8th then.

don’t take this the wrong way.
nobody in the west has an answer for the Davis/James/center du jour front line other than LAC when healthy and HOU when hitting shots. Nobody.

The lakers do not fear the pels in any way. They’ve shown you that three times now and the results on Sunday won’t change that a bit. They are comfortably the one seed and can now start to manage minutes on their key guys.

The nba wants a lakers-pels series for the storylines and pels fans want it because it means we made the playoffs and we want to stick it to Davis et al. But they know how to win that series and it will take divine intervention and some really bad lakers luck to make it competitive

Pels would be heavy dogs, but let’s see if they keep playing better as the season goes on. Lakers are what they are. Pels are on an upward trajectory. Zion is not gaurdable, and he is our wildcard.

In a hypothetical first round series, I want to take 2 games and I would be content this season. One in LA and one in tBlender. That playoff experience will be huge for our young guys. Really only 4 players on our roster have playoff experience, and 1 is Moore who would be at the very end of the rotation.

First two times were without Zion. Last time we stayed with them. Yeah we can't guard them but we can keep pace offensively for the most part especially if we can clean up turnovers just a little bit.

Not saying Lakers won't win but I think we can take a game or two by simply outscoring them. Either way I'm definitely excited for the opportunity. Preseason expectations were we probably don't make the playoffs but if we do that exceeds expectations alone and taking a game or two off the 1 seed if that happens, well you gotta love the direction the team is headed in.

Only thing that worries me is making the playoffs will keep Gentry around. I dont see him being the guy to take this team to the next level, I don't want to see all this young talent's ceiling stay as low as it probably will be with Al.

I agree completely with all three replies to my post. None of those excellent points change the fact that the lakers do not fear the pels in a playoff series which was what I responded to originally

obviously the pels are a better team now than Memphis and obviously the lakers would rather play them than us. But they don’t care who they play otherwise nor should they

I certainly don't want to keep Gentry around long term either, but he isn't getting fired if we're winning at a 50+ game pace in the first year of a rebuild once we got healthy. It just isn't happening. We should brace ourselves for at least one more year of gentry.

Not that this would be a deciding factor for any candidate, but it's not exactly comforting for a prospective coach to see that a team will still shitcan you even if you turn it around after dealing with injuries to your most talented players.

I have full faith in Griffin to make the optimal move.

give Gentry a chance, it’s not like he’s on a five year deal.
complaining about him right now is dumb

let’s see how the stretch run goes. 5 of the next 8 are on the road, and 5 of the 8 are against playoff teams. This two week run is critical
