You might be thinking Pels have all the leverage in this.

I don’t see Capella as having any value whatsoever,

Capella has zero offensive ability. He has at best neutral value, meaning Atlanta wouldn’t have to pay to move him, but teams also won’t have to give up any assets to acquire him.

Depends on what you can get with their draft picks, while taking in Paul Reed.

Bi is not some AD level player that can dictate where he is going. Like I said Sixers are near the bottom of teams id send him to.

So we giving up a former all star level #2 or #3 option for Paul Reed and some draft picks that will be almost worthless since they will be so far down or years and years away when Zion won’t even be on the team by then?
They can frick off with that nonsense.

The Sixers gonna hold open their cap space until next season?

Can you not read? I said it depends on what you can get with those draft picks, not who you can draft.
If you can flip those 4 picks for someone like Trae Young, then yes a BI trade for Young and Reed is pretty damn good while still keeping our warchest for other moves.

Doesn’t have to be. He’s what the market says he Is (generating quite a bit interest currently), moreso than Trae, and can signal who he’d sign an extension with. Trading partners will offer up a buy or rental price. Sorry, thats the game.

quote:Big "if." Obviously, if that is the gameplan, would likely have to be a 3-team deal or at least have second deal committed to at the same time. Too risky to take on a bunch of low value future picks with no plan in mind for them other than to build another "warchest" that Griffin will not know how to use.

Still doesn’t answer what the Sixers have to offer besides long term picks and cap space.
They don’t have any assets past Reed that are attractive and they are willing to part with.

I mean, I figured with my wording that this was pretty obvious. You don’t do the deal if you don’t have the subsequent move already lined up.

Seems if we want we trade for Trae and the Hawks can go flip BI for whatever assets or trade pieces they want. More teams involved, the more complicated it gets with a bigger chance of it falling through.
And you didn’t word it that way. I asked what the Sixers can offer, and long term draft picks are the absolute last thing we should be looking for right now.

No, the way it works is Atlanta would tell Griff go get me X,Y,Z using your assets and then we will trade Trae to you. They wouldn’t say we will take Ingram and then see what we can get.

And I said Paul Reed and whatever you can get with their draft picks. That means whatever players you can trade those picks for, not whatever players you draft 5 years from now. You add those 4-5 picks with our 7 tradeable ones and we would have the ability to go get whoever we want

Just for example, teams with cap space can take in bad contracts for picks.

So you've got two paths you can go down with a BI trade:
One, you can try use him to leverage a useful player(s) that help balance the roster around Zion. This is the Murray/Allen/Gardland route.
Two, you can try to use him to accumulate a portfolio of tradable assets which you can then convert into true number two superstar who fits better with Zion, but who might not be available this summer. This depends to some degree on the belief that many teams will be looking to dump salary next year before the new CBA rules kick in.

Would this trade move anyone?
Bulls: Ingram, Nance
Pels: Lavine, Caruso, 2025 Spurs 1st (top 8 protected), 2028 Bulls 1st
Lavine can be a legit #2 next to Zion if he stays healthy, or we could do our best to keep him healthy to rehab his value and flip him at the deadline for another star. More picks needed from Bulls maybe?

Latest Sam Amico article has 6ers, Hawks, Cavs and Magic as Ingram suitors so far.

We should be asking how do we land Nembhard.
Posted on 5/27/24 at 8:41 pm to New City Champ
I don’t think asset accumulation is a sound strategy. The Pels collection of picks wasn’t enough to get Fox or Sabonis. Hoping more picks gets you an All Star or better player later is just that, hope, not a plan.
There are 3 All Star caliber guards “available” this summer. Maybe none are perfect fits but I think they get you closer to your ultimate goal than a package of picks.
