this sounds like b'rer rabbit and the briar patch

Sources: Knicks have remained enthusiastic about idea of signing Marcus Morris to a new deal this summer, but as trade offers become richer in assets this week, they’ll stay open to idea of moving him. Many contenders have interest in him.

You really think we are going to get 4 1sts for Jrue? Not even close to realistic.

agreed.

But pels get covington, the warriors 2020 unprotected and one unprotected minnesota pick 2021.

Warriors 2021 will be way late in round. No postponing that one.

Can give warriors pels 2nd if 2020 warriors is top 3.

I mean, no shite. No one is taking that contract. I don't think anyone will take it this offseason without them adding value to it.

They probably have to wait at least one more year.

They do, but Knicks have alot of draft capital that they would be willing to part with

Yeah, shouldn't be too hard to outbid those "assets."

one thing to keep in mind is this is not a great draft coming up. particular to the pels, they have:

pels 1st (mid-low lottery)
pels 2nd (mid round)
WAS 2nd (mid round)
MIL 2nd (last pick)

let's assume they draft one guy among those picks they'd like to develop. they already have louzada in the bullpen, another 4 picks in 2021, and another 4 picks in 2022. some cashing of assets is not just likely, it's required

Not only is it a very mediocre draft, it is a really, really bad Free Agent class.

One would have to expect some deals getting done now and in the offseason.

I don’t think they end up getting a 1st for him, but it’s not as crazy as it sounds whenever you look at how many contending teams need to add wing depth and how unfavorable the next draft is being viewed. I think MEM is getting a lot of calls on him. Would you be that surprised if Boston gave up the MIL first for him? There’s a chance that pick could be on the table.

The 2nds aren't that big of a deal. We have a G-League team now that we can send those picks to to develop, or even draft and stashes like with Didi

But I don't see us using all of those 2nds, they will move some

only way they can go to erie (and hold their rights) is if the pels hold a roster spot for the (15-man or 2-way). as soon as you sign a guy to contract, those are your two options.

draft/stash is really all they can do, and the NBL has proven to be useful option there

You would have to look at who the contending team would be sending out.

There's not any offhand that have bad deals to get off of, so they would be sending out a player that's halfway valuable..

Add in a 1st on top and you're taking back an expiring player, that's ridiculous

As we figure out the types of players to surround Zion/Ingram with, we will wind up with a couple guys at the 13-15th roster spots that pretty much never play. That's the perfect time to draft some young guys with potential (Kendrick Nunn ttpe) or guys with injury (MPJ) and either let them develop with the Bayhawks, or let them recover from injury

He makes under 8mil and the team would get full bird rights. That’s why he gets extra value, teams can actually get to his salary to match and they could keep him for the future whenever they don’t have the cap room to add another piece. There are just not that many guys available that meet that criteria this trade deadline. I agree that it’s unlikely, I personally think they’ll settle for a couple of average 2nds or a single good 2nd in best case. But it’s not crazy to think that if there is a buying frenzy, someone could be talked into it.
