Zion has the lowest PACE stat on the team when he's on the court, but he's in good shape right? It's actually worse through these 2 games than it was through his first 4 games of last year, and it was obvious he was out of shape to start last year.
Zion literally told us it would take him to 20 gmaes to get into optimal game shape...for his revenge season.

Folks can blame being sick, it's literally every single season of his career that he's played. There's no reason to come up with excuses, he told us he wouldn't be 100% ready, believe him.

The only shred of a glimmer of hope we have is that he's just gonna be on that shaq plan. He used the season to play himself into shape and killed motherfrickers by the time he made the playoffs.

I'm just bummed. Really thought Zion could be a 1 of 1. Instead he's just another guy wasting his talents until proven otherwise.

Correct, and he did do that last season. It stinks, but it IS what we have to hope for.

Which is extra funny given how much hate I got, especially from 1 poster, in the "Zion revenge" thread. Hell, I didn't even say he would definitely not show up in great shape and conditioning. All I said was, just don't assume he 100% will just because he said he's out for revenge this season. And low and behold, look where we are now.

You started the thread but...Wasn't referring to you, I think you're clear.

I don't think you gave too much commentary in that thread, just the initial report/quotes in the OP you added.

Gee i wonder where i've seen this before. Could it be b/c a certain guy isn't in shape and plays no defense outside of trying to block someone every now and then

Even out of shape, the Pelicans were significantly worse with Zion off the court than when he was on the court. That says a whole lot about the others.

Definitely true about Zion off court.

But we've barely been a positive with him on. Against bad teams, we should be dominating with him on so we can weather the non Zion minutes.

What I don’t get about Zion is he genuinely looked good during the offseason. Were we all wrong, or did he run out of Ozempic for a few weeks?

I kinda do think that he was in a real zone in his little personal training camp in Texas, and then he came back home and got out of his routine.

Shel, if you want to see this as my saying that you were right, go ahead, but I still think that he came into this season in the best shape that he's started a season. He definitely still weighs much less than at the start of last season.

I will say though, that Zion will look better and be much more effective when Trey is back. A big part of the reason that Zion struggled in the last Portland game was that he simply had no room to operate -- Portland had packed the paint.

CJ and Hawk do not space the floor for Zion the same way that Trey does. Trey's range and quick, high shot release mean that a defender has to stay further away from the basket.

CJ and Hawk both get shots off quicker than Trey, and move a lot more off the ball. I agree Treys range helps a lot, but that doesn’t mean he has more gravity than Hawk and CJ. Their defenders know they can’t leave those guys.

Zion will look better in 20 games when his lazy arse gets in better shape.

This comment definitely registered with me on media day.

And it was true.

I seriously don't get it

It would be nice for GSW to schedule these games as losses and regroup this weekend.

I'm not going to overreact. He's played two games coming off an illness. He isn't a fast healer.

He can look wily different shape wise in a week. Let's see how he looks tonight.

I predict a big game

I'm not overreacting either, it is what it is. I will give him a week to get over his illness.

However, a professional athlete shouldn't need 20 games to "play themselves into shape".

That dude should be ready to fricking go day 1 of training camp

ah, I guess I'll start calling people out for their pathetic and miserable lives but tell them I like them, so then they can't say I'm hating on them.

What an absurd take

Cue the "with all due respect" meme...

Him being 100% ready and the most in condition on the team game 1 was always a long shot.

People just didn't want to hear that, so they lashed out. But they knew it was true... Zion told us quite literally, and they still refused to believe it.
