re: Someone explain why Markkanen isn't a good fit for us?

Sure sure, and AD was going to be a FA from the Lakers and Jrue will be a FA from the Bucks etc etc..... these conversations do not happen in a vacuum. A team isn’t trading for Lonzo with the intention of not signing him in the offseason. Wherever he goes now is where he gets his next extension. You can believe that or not, but that’s how this plays out.
Hopefully Zion will be up to 36 minutes a game of a 48 minute game next season. That leaves 12 minutes for Lauri to play. Because god knows you can’t accomplish anything with Zion and Lauri together on the court defensively. So good luck paying more than a million dollars per minute played. Because that is the math of what you are considering.

That may happen, it may not. Klutch will make sure he signs with whoever throws the most money at him. Now maybe the team that trades for him matches the contract. But you have no idea whoever or what amount a team may offer him in the offseason.
And why can’t Lauri stay on the court with Zion playing the 3? I’ve seen projections of him taking over that spot once he develops a 3 point shot.

Patrick Williams is the guy they should ask for from Chicago.

Only way it fits is if we’re sending them Adams as well, which may be realistic.

How do you figure? Lonzo has real value in trade now so why should we get stuck with whatever another team seems as scraps in return? I don’t care if you have to include a pick with Ball you have to get something of real value back for him. People say Markkanen but it doesn’t make sense with him up for a new contract that we will not be able to give him. So send a 1st with Lonzo to get something you can actually use.

Derp on you if that’s who we trade for?

One of the goals of this season has to be to find out what kind of players fit with Zion and BI. The whole point of Nico Melli was to see how those lineups worked, and Melli hasn't been able to shoot well enough for us to really see.
I really want to see what the offense looks like when we put 5 on the floor who can shoot 3s (because Zion can shoot 3s). I think our offense

1. Horrible defender
2. Often injured
3. Is a bench player on our team
4. Will ask for a lot of money in free agency.
I really like Markkanen as a player, but he doesn't fit on our team.

People have said he is a fit but muh defense and muh contract

Because the past few years has shown that he isnr that good.
All of this.

Is this some retarded attempt to dismiss what are glaringly obvious points?
The guy is often injured, is a terrible defender, and will want 15 million plus.
What about that are you not getting through your head as problematic?

You being dismissive of good reasons he's not a good fit don't make them not good reasons. Maybe if they had hired Finch instead of Stan and were leaning into the offense like Brooklyn is, then maybe it wouldn't matter. But they hired SVG and are trying to be a defense first team so it does.

Hell even Brooklyn understands they need to add size and some defenders to be more well
rounded.
I mean if we had drafted this guy to be a back up for Zion and had him on his rookie contract for 4 years, great, he’d be a brilliant back up that can be a bit like a Swiss Army knife and play with Zion or Adams. That you then do exactly like Chicago and trade off.
But unless you are Dell Demps, you don’t pay a bunch of guys big money to be back ups that can’t really close the biggest games with your best players because they have major liabilities that exacerbate a major weakness with them in the lineup.

I’m not trying to be dismissive of them. But there are upsides to him as a player. Here the Pels are on the verge of acquiring him yet he’s been trashed in this thread for most part.

Someone said he declined a bulls offer of 4/45 million. No way we should pay this guy 20 plus.
