I definitely think we overpaid (even considering the money that's been thrown out), but I love taking chances on people with potential. We're never going to be good without hitting on deals like this.

We get Buddy for almost free, for like 5 years! Thank God for the draft or we'd have a team full of Omer and Solo contracts.

I think we are hoping he can develop into a Draymond Green type. I could very well see that. He can shoot, rebound, and pass well for a his size. And he has a great motor. I like this gamble and think it will pay off. He just needs minutes to get a feel for his game.

If he's an average starter and making a little less than average starter salary (in this new climate), isn't that a win?

Also, if you are an average defender versus multiple different positions, you are a good defender

Do you know how much better he would have to be to become average, though? All is detractors would see average as a huge win, yes. But he has miles to go to produce at an average level

@ChrisMannixYS
New Orleans among the teams expressing interest in Rajon Rondo, league sources told @TheVertical. Rondo led the NBA in assists last season.

I think miles is a bit of an overstatement.

But then again this board has been the optimist versus the pessimist versus the narcissistic.

Well for starters he can't shoot. Which I'd be ok with but he doesn't even shoot at the line well. I don't want my primary guy handling the ball to suck at free throw shooting.

The guy also admitted to not even giving a shite his last year in Boston and Rick Carlisle couldn't even get through to him. And he's a freakin top 5 coach.

Bad attitudes are not what we need.

If he is an average offensive/defensive player at that salary it's a good signing. As far as defensive impact it's hard to measure but the advance stats say he doesn't hurt your defense but I wouldn't go as far as saying he's a good defender. He has the potential to be one.

I like the signing. Roll of the dice for all the right reasons. FA are not coming here. Is what it is. With that said...funny as hell.

I was basing the average comment on his stats in games where he has played 30+ minutes.

The NBA has gone full retard. These contracts are stupid. And I hate the signing.

it's like some people are looking at the numbers in a vacuum ... which you can't do

my current standing... I'm ok with it... lock down on D and hit a couple 3s a game and I'll consider it a win

ETA: and you could say we essentially lost out on Lin to get Hill

ETA2: he essentially has to be that guy when... in a tight game, he's been quiet and everyone's sinking down on AD or covering Buddy tight... he pops open and drains a corner 3

Yes you can! He had those #'s for a reason. He wasnt a 6th man hero for Indiana. He's 25 years old, he isnt a rookie waiting to develop.
