Members of Sixers coaching staff and front office on contracts have until Thursday to agree to 20 percent salary reduction, sources tell ESPN. Among many so far, there's apprehension on committing to giving back money -- especially with uncertainty surrounding employment futures.

Only at-will employees -- over $50K a year in salary -- are required to accept the Sixers salary reductions. Those under contract are needed to "volunteer" to do it.

If it’s basically a donation to other employees of the organization/arena, youd potentially expect them to step up. If it’s just because the owner is losing some money, then frick him.

Either way it's because the owner wants to lose less money.

“After the PR disaster of a billionaire trying to save maybe a few million at the expense of his employees, we’ve decided to rethink our position.”

I seriously don't understand this shite. It's such a PR loser to do this and it's such a PR winner to make it known that everyone will be covered in full.

The PR hit, I have to believe, will be wayyyy more costly than the salaries paid during this time.

So you think that the Sixers are jumping the gun and that they should take more time to assess financially what will be the impact of a long term period of zero income coming in?

Unemployment numbers are coming out on Thursday. It is not going to be good. Drastic times call for drastic measures.

We preach fiscal responsibility for individuals so that they can be prepared in times of financial distress. For some reason billion dollar enterprises with relatively low overhead are exempt from that line of thinking apparently.

And who says there will be long term 0 income coming in? The league hasn't folded last I checked.

frick that. They are in business to make money. Not having to work and no crowds or revenue being generated, why should it be full pay?
The fricking loser players bargain for higher cuts, but when revenue falls, they all run amd hide and want full everything.
Let em quit if I'm the owner. There are plenty of coaches that would BEG for 80% of what those overpaid coaches get.

This shite will be in all contracts going forward...just watch

Bruh. The lost revenue from this year will affect the cap numbers in future years. You don't understand the CBA.

The coaches salaries are NOT affected by the cap...that's what I'm saying.
As for players, the current contracts are not affected either.

So the owners are fricked with no revenue....hell, does the TV money still come in?

We know that the number of playoff games impacts the salary cap and in years with lots of sweeps the cap went down from projections. So I would guess that the TV money is at the very least greatly reduced if they aren't giving them playoff games to broadcast.

The local TV money might be different though. I think part of why the Pels have really pushed the rewatches of games on FSNO so hard with an upper management dog and pony show is because FSNO has to pay out anyway.

if you are not on a million dollar contract that's ridiculous.
