If zion is the trade, is the 2 pick alone not enough for Zion?
If the Pels were to actually trade Zion, I do not believe them to see that as enough.

You mean like AD and CP3?? You really think they’ll blame Zion or the pelicans. We have a history of stars requesting trades. I think your inputting your morals or how you would think into how a NBA superstar like Zion thinks. Trust me their egos are much much bigger.

AD and CP3 performed well and commanded blockbuster offers. You're grasping at straws to argue against a common league tactic dude

This is not a common league tactic

It depends on what the pelicans real goal is. Are they trying to seriously get rid of Zion (then yes no. 2 pick not enough); if they’re trying to just somehow get Scoot- I think its enough maybe add a player or lower first round pick- depending if we take salary back.

So how is what I said wrong?
Well for one the group you said “can’t play extended time together” in fact did play extended time together and had a good net rating while doing it.
Also, you’re bringing up holes at 1 and 4 when none of the players you listed are ones (unless you say Dyson is a true point, he’s also a rookie lol) and Zion (who is our 4) was out most of the year, so that just makes no sense.
The team obviously has flaws, several flaws, but two starting caliber 2nd year players with elite traits in Trey and Herb and an all star playing the best he ever has in BI being on the same team is not even remotely close to being one of those flaws. Like really, a defensive slasher wing, knockdown freak athelte swingman shooter, and all around scoring creator can’t play together? CJ and Val must not be a part of the problem, in your mind I guess.

Lol this is not common league tactic?? Again name me a time a team threaten to trade a superstar and it actually worked??? Like he wasnt traded and performed well the next season.

What superstar gets traded for a pick?
ETA: I’m fairly confident that this trade isn’t happening. If not, talks were either done with a purpose or this was an exercise in futility. Rendering this thread to 32 pages of malarkey

Umm Anthony Davis lol wtf

Spurs threatened to trade Duncan back in the day and Tony Parker was rumored to be traded a few times during their run.
Lakers and Kobe had trade rumors before they traded for Gasol.
Steph and Klay were almost traded multiple times before Kerr got hired.

Another Davis was traded for 3 1sts, BI, Lonzo, and Josh hart. What planet are you living on?

He was also demanding a trade. This would be pretty unprecedented to trade a star player, who is not asking out, for a draft pick.

Duncan threatened to sign with Magic. Wheb did Spurs ever threaten to trade him??; Tony Parker was maybe the third best player on his team- not really comparable and also years ago- NBA has drastically changed.
Kobe wanted out and threatened a trade on Lakers not the other way around lol
Steph and klay weren’t close to superstar status at the time-
Whether people like it to hear it or not Zion is.
All these examples even if true, some are not, were years ago. This isnt the early 2000s NBA. In todays age, players control the teams not the other way around.

Zion has missed a lot of games. But he doesn't have a major injury. He has missed a lot more time than he should have with the injuries he has had. It could easily be argued that his injuries and rehabs were mismanaged from day 1. Then, when you look at BI and other Pels players missing more time than they should have with non major injuries, a team could easily feel that it was a Pels problem and not a Zion problem.
He is 22 years old, has made 2 all-star teams, and has set records for performance in his first 100 games, despite the missed time. He is locked on a contract for five years. Guys like that simply don't get traded. I would say is the #2 pick enough for Zion?
Side note: the more I think about this, the more it doesn't make sense to trade Zion. This screams of Griff trading him because he's not his type of guy. I hope that the trust placed in Griff is worth it if this goes down. This could go down as an all time terrible trade.

This is literally not what you want to do and in all honesty with superstars not the smartest thing to do in todays NBA.
To the uneducated, sure.
The stars in this league all know Zions issues like we do, it won't be a bad look for the Pels at all if he demands a trade

Your question was has a player ever been traded for a pick? AD was. Zion we might get more than number two. You act like it’s unprecedented for a nba team to trade a superstar for a pick. What do you think teams ask fot when trading a superstar???

The pick was in addition to Ingram Hart and ball. Can you please stop being full of shite?

English a second language? A singular pick does not equal 3 picks and 3 players.
Posted on 6/14/23 at 9:30 am to whatiknowsofar
If you dont think its a bad look that a third superstar asks out of this franchise, I dont know what to tell you. On top of that as soon as a player requests out you lose immediate leverage and not ideal at all.
