re: Shams says Pelicans are “aggressively pursuing” a top 2-3 pick for Scoot

Dude just bought a house here, was the #1 overall pick who has been coddled his entire career. Never once has Zion thought the organization wanted to move on from him. Threatening a trade is essentially the only thing we could do to show him that his value is decreasing due to his behavior.
This is a business, and Zion being traded would hurt his brand. If you think this is all about making friends and having a good time, you're living in fantasy land

There is literally no other way to show a player that his value is lower now than it was yesterday. I gotta get out of this fricking thread

Zion being traded will not hurt his brand lol We’re not the lakers or knicks. You don’t piss a guy off by threatening trades. This isnt some dumb role player. Hes suppose to be the star of the team.

Lol when has this theory of threatening a trade on a superstar in the NBA ever worked???! Name once where a player played great with the same team after being threatened with almost getting traded lol

You guys just keep on creating Zion mock trades, I'm leaving you to it

You have 2 guys that can guard 1-4, an all-star 3-level scorer, an elite 3 point shooter than can potentially guard 3-5. If Herb and Dyson can approach league-average from 3, there is no reason those 4 can't be part of a very legit closing lineup
Then why were we so bad at defending during the season? If things were so great, why do we need Zion back so bad and why are we desperate to upgrade at PG, specifically to find an athletic defender. We didn't have huge holes at the 1 and 4?
If Daniels can star and defend 1s and Murphy can do the same at the 4, then why do we need Zion or to add anything? We should be set and only looking to strengthen the bench.
But yet, it's not enough and those players can't play those roles for extended periods. So how is what I said wrong?

Answer my question when has this method ever worked?? You don’t publicly threaten trades on the star of your team just to send a message because most stars will say just trade me then and the team loses all leverage. Again we’re the pelicans not the lakers/knicks, most of our franchise guys leave via trade anyways.

Look, don’t let it bother you. Like I said, not intentionally directing this at you. Jake Madison said the same on his pod.
All the same things applied to AD. Really think he would have played more if we threatened to trade him to LA? It’s just not a rational interpretation of the situation.
Maybe it’s a trade leverage play by either side, maybe they are really considering it, or maybe he’s not really being discussed. But putting it out to media to get Zion’s attention? Let’s have realistic conversations.

Oh so you have the real sources lol.
Comparing two incomparable situations is a pretty pointless exercise. Teams aren't clamoring for Zion Williamson with "godfather offers." He hasn't played and is in desperate need of a wake up call. Again, have at it with the mock trades, but I am on the opinion that we're not ultimately making any drastic moves

Exactly. The team is really interested in Scoot and in all honesty to get that high you have to trade one of your franchise guys. Doesn’t mean it will happen but seems like there might be some conversation going on. Again just an assumption on my part, before the source police wakes up and starts going after me for posting that Zion or BI might be traded lol

Zions response to wake up call - you don’t want me here, then go ahead and trade me. You act like hes scared of being traded out of nola. He still gets traded and probably doesn’t have to deal with our training staff and Griff, he’ll be happy lol

We're lucky to have a fan that knows Zion so well. Thank you for your service

Lol I know the NBA. You’re acting like Zion is scared of the pelicans trading him. Hes a NBA superstar. What planet do you live on lol
Posted on 6/14/23 at 8:57 am to SCLSUMuddogs
You goof ball. Jake said the same as you as a possibility.
A Zion trade would be completely unprecedented in the NBA. A 22 year old all star capable of being top ten in the NBA and signed for 5 years. Flat out doesn’t happen. Believe that if he is traded, it will be ground breaking. And the worth of Charlottes franchise will immediately increase, likely a large part of their motivation.

I have no doubt that Charlotte wants him and I have no doubt that we've had some tentative conversations with Charlotte. I do not believe that we have offered Zion Williamson or are seriously considering moving him.
I don't think the pelicans leaked this story, because it would be dumb to do so in the middle of a negotiation. However, the silence is pretty deafening since, so I think they could be using the situation to their advantage. Zion isn't specifically named, so he can't say we were throwing his name out there, making him look bad. However how this all played out does have the potential to make Zion think more deeply about his situation.
I don't think anything I've said is controversial in the slightest

If zion is the trade, is the 2 pick alone not enough for Zion?
Posted on 6/14/23 at 9:09 am to Chad504boy
Have to factor in salary of course
Honestly a trade I love (I know I’ll get vitriol from the board)
Three-way with Indy
Pels get Scoot, Mark Williams, and Cody Martin
Hornets get Myles Turner, Chris Duarte, and 7
Pacers get Zion
I’m sure other picks would be involved
Ton of cap flexibility and we can keep 14 to move Jonas for another player if we need

You literally think Zion will sit there and think oh man Pelicans might trade me, I need to work harder and get in shape so they don’t trade me?? Because what nba superstar would ever request a trade from the pelicans lol
Posted on 6/14/23 at 9:11 am to Pels_Yaz
I would hate to be the guy that was such a disappointment that I was traded by one of the worst franchises in the league. Personal preference I suppose
Posted on 6/14/23 at 9:11 am to Chad504boy
I guess the question is it Zion or BI? If its Zion you would think 2 pick should be enough but not sure how other teams view him.
