Herb and Jose need to finish better. Way too many missed gimme shots at the rim. Overtime the 3pt shooting will improve with the way they're both already good with free throws as they work on it.

Then, why can't trey Murphy be a poor man's klay? Similar build, athleticism, not as good as a shooter but above average.

What's harder to find, a 6th man like Jordan Clarkson or a solid 20+mpg stretch 4/defensive big

Naji and Billy won’t move. Devonte I’m not sure even tho today I would want him gone.

Well our biggest issue right now is that Graham is our #2 shooting guard. But people still would like to keep him.

So let’s take a look if we keep our team:

1. We still have Graham as our #2 SG.
2. We would draft a SG that would share minutes with Graham, who is already not a great #2 SG.
3. We would then be developing Kira, Hayes, Murphy, Jose, Herb, Lottery, 1-2 more draft picks.

My biggest take away is you can’t develop those 5 guys AND a lottery pick + 2nds AND waste the extra SG minutes on a mediocre Graham. No offense to him honestly.

graham will be useful during long slog regular season stretches and as an occasional starter for rest of injury

when the deadline rolls around we can see what his market is. They need to rehab his profile some first

I’m not worried about it. If he just can’t get it together they can afford to sit him if they get just a little better shooting from everyone else and especially if Lewis gives you anything

A lot also depends on Jose...can he give you solid rotation minutes over a full season? And shoot his position? If he can (I think he can) then they can cover up graham. We also don’t really know what Murphy can do. If that dude can be a 40% er then look out

Graham is a relief pitcher

I’m still a huge Kira Lewis Jr. fan and see a world where he could be a Day 1 Starter next season.

In that multiverse

Kira-CJ-Ingram-Zion-Val
There's a a better chance that Tha NBA shuts down and ceases to exist than Kira starting and Herb Jones not starting.

There's also a better chance Kira isn't in the rotation at all. He had 1.5 years and never proved himself. Alvarado proved himself day 1.

The problem is someone has to get moved this summer.

We can only have 14 players on the active roster if im not mistaken.

We currently have 14 players under contract not including the draft pick.

CJ
BI
Herb
Zion
JV

Jose
DG
TM3
Hayes
Nance

Naji
Billy
GT
Kira

So we would honestly need GT to retire and move into the FO so solve one spot. However, we could also use his salary with Grahams to get a 16M per year kinda guy (hmmm I wonder what ex Pel would take that currently)

We just dont have spots to fill on this team and the FO has clearly made it clear they want continuity with this offseason and a lot of the bench guys are deemed untouchable.

I think we trade some picks into next year or use them in a two for one player trade. Will be interesting to see when moves happen. I think the pick the lakers give us will also have an impact on the type of move we make.

Portland is shedding salary, not taking on salary like Temple & Graham

You can't play BI,JV, Z and CJ together. It would be a defensive nightmare. Each is good but not as a team.

You really think Zion would be much worse than Jax as a defender?

That lineup plus Herb will be our starting lineup and it'll wreck teams.

But why would we keep Graham as an “occasional starter for rest or injury” when we can trade and get someone to do that better? Even if we keep Keep Hayes/ Kira we would still have around 16.5 mil to upgrade with Graham+ Temple.

Also why keep him if we are drafting someone to replace him, who we hope is better than him?

Look I think Graham is a solid average shooter who can get a hot streak and will play better with a healthy Zion + spacing.

BUT you replace Graham under 2 circumstances: 1. If we can upgrade him 2. If we use the lotto pick on a SG who can plan now. We could do both.

but HOW are you going to replace him? You willing to send out yet another pick to do it? After we just traded a 1st to CHA to get him?

Why not train him, as Col Jessup might suggest?

I’d send out a 1st depending on who we trade for. We can attach 2nds, swaps, or protected firsts and not really blink. I wouldn’t trade any Lakers/ Bucks picks but who tf cares about 1 Pels protected 1st that a team gets 5 years from now? We should be a top team by then.

Positions 1-3 we have CJ, BI, TM3, Jose, and Herb. I’m gonna assume our lotto pick is also in this category.

That’s already 6 players in rotation so 1 of Graham/Kira/ lotto pick will not even get playing time.

Why keep Graham and Kira to be 7 and 8 in that rotation when we can possibly package them for someone who would be 4/5 in that rotation? We don’t get worse by improving our rotation.

Yup. Use the 1st to get him back

Can you imagine the roar of the crowd re-introducing him next season?

Would be stuff of legends

These two things are not the same. I actually think with the emergence of JA, Kira is very "touchable".
