re: Rockets target Anderson. Pelicans have NOT shown interest in Omer Asik.

We'd be OK just picking up another minimum-contract guy at the 5 for depth. We don't "need" a trade the way Houston does. Houston has to win now. As has been pointed out, Anderson gets along well with Dwight---they know that Anderson would be a good fit for them. They are going to have to overpay, because Dell is in the driver's seat.

Rookie speculation here so feel free to bash:
What about a player and a draft pick for next year for Anderson? Do they have a 1st round pick. They are probably looking to be towards the end of the 1st round if they are confident they can make a run. But the draft is supposedly deep and our pick was traded away (unless it's top 5).

He was a rookie last season, only 22 years old. He didn't do a whole lot last season, but he would be a project that may eventually be able to replace Ryno's role on the team.

Houston needs this deal more than we do.
Give us Parsons with Asik or find a third team and find us a shooter. Don't be afraid to walk away.

I want more than a pick. I want a SF and a C.

meh it may be a good thing. And I may be being irrational. But I think parting ways with Anderson this year wouldn't be smart. We need a leader and a familiar face on this team that has a lot of new faces. Anderson brings a lot of intangibles to the table

Asik + 2014 pick + Motiejunas sounds good to me. I just don't see Ryno having much more than 20 mpg next season unless we play AD at the C. I'm cautious about doing that this season.

This. They are gonna pay no matter who they target. If they want a sure thing in a guy that definitely plays well with Howard, they are gonna pay more.

Agreed but acquiring talent is how you get ahead in professional sports.
Davis, Aminu, Rivers, Smith Mason (if still on team) and Roberts are all guys with good character.. And Holiday will be the leader of this team, from day 1, I'd think

Include serious other assets, or get fricked, Houston.

Lulz, Dell is a fricking trade ninja!

Does anyone see AD as a true center down the road? I just think having him guard someone like Marc Gasol is a waste of his talent.
Posted on 7/6/13 at 6:07 pm to MrBlue105
No, keep him at the 4 please!! In crunch time, frick yea
Posted on 7/6/13 at 6:08 pm to MrBlue105
He could play the 5, but why waste this much talent sitting in the paint? Sure, a dominant C is rare, but his athleticism allows him to guard athletic 3s on the outside and pick up blocked shots in the paint.
He could be better than Garnett. We aren't even close to his ceiling.

One thing to consider is 'down the road' how many true centers will there be?

After Marc Gasol, and a healthy Bynum, Asik is the best fit next to Davis of anyone in the league.
And everyone saying Houston should give up Parsons and a pick also are nuts. Asik straight up for Ryno is a good deal. If they through in someone like Montiejunas or Jones, Pelicans should jump on that.

In theory . . . in a vacuum . . . sure. But in reality, I say Houston has to give a lot for the Pelicans to give up Anderson.

I get that Houston should give up more in the trade, but let's be honest, Asik is better for the Pelicans and their franchise player than Ryno is. Jones or Montiejunas is plenty enough in my opinion. Either way, don't understand people thinking Parsons should be in it, or no deal.

I think most people are joking about it at this point.
