fricking this.

did all of the idiots come out of the woodwork tonight or something?

this thread has taken a turn for the absurd. Anderson is a great talent, but a straight-up trade Anderson-for-Asik would be great for us

It'll probably soften the blow for fans. I think that if you are planning to build around Anthony Davis, you can't leave a hole at the 5 going into the season. I like Smith and the rookie Withey but I need an enforcer who will protect my franchise player.

they're just thinking emotionally...more about the name on the back of the jersey and not the name on the front

I'm in no way thinking emotionally.

I think you're 100% wrong. Ryan Anderson is way more valuable to us than Asik is.

Just read what a lot of idiots have been saying, and if you are a true pelicans fan you will see that asik with a guy like brewer would be perfect for this team especially with aminu's versatility to play the 3 or the 4

Great article on Asik

quote:

For the entire season Houston’s defense has been night and day with him on and off the floor. They give up 107.5 points per 100 possessions when he’s off and 101.5 when he’s on—a six point difference that ranges from what would be the third worst defense in the league to the 10th best.
quote:

Houston has allowed the sixth fewest shots from five feet and in, out of all teams in the league, while also forcing the sixth most mid-range shots, according to NBA.com/Stats. (The further away from the basket opponents attempt their shots—inside the three-point line, of course—the better for the Rockets.) Winning Defensive Player of the Year is likely a long shot given his relative anonymity on the national stage. But for making Houston’s defense so obviously better, Omer Asik is as good a candidate as anybody.

It's a trap question. What are we more likely to find? A limited defensive Center or an elite Stretch 4? The elite stretch 4 of course.

See what I did there.

Because he's a better player, that's younger, on a better contract, and does something on our team better than everyone else.

Why would Asik be? We already have our defensive big.

if you see that question as a "trap," then you're almost certainly too emotionally invested in your position to be looking at this clearly.

it's a completely logical and pertinent question. we're nearing being capped out right now, with most of the pieces in place. right now we're a strong defensive 5 and a good 3 away from being locked in. it's going to be hard to get both of those with so little cap space left
