Evans can't shoot the 3 for shite. Gordon and Holiday are good, but having a stretch 4 that can adds a completely different dimension and affect than "3 points". You know that.

Let's bring in that goofy frick, he's all world.

Can't score? It is not like Ryan Anderson is Michael freakin' Jordan. We just got Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans, Davis will be more seasoned, and EG (hope to God) will be happy and healthy all season long. I HIGHLY doubt that we will not improve offensively.
What we need is a strong defensive force inside to help create fast breaks in order to allow our other ballers to run. Asik is not exactly deadweight offensively either.

He did it for one fricking season, man. One. He is being completely overvalued on this board. I think he is good defensively, but losing Anderson could mess us up offensively.
It becomes a wash to me. And in this case, I stick with a core guy who WANTS TO BE HERE, has played at a high consistent level for more than just one season, and is younger.
Well, Demps is going to make it happen and we will find another Anderson type.

He's not good offensively. Don't even try to argue that.

I think one important thing people are forgetting in this argument is that ryno and AD could not be on the court at the same time last year. And AD is the franchise, not ryno.
That's true, but also a bit of a myth after the ASG.
According to NBA.com's Stats page, as a 2 man unit they were -10.3 in net efficiency differential on the season in 697 minutes.
Before the ASG, -15.3 in 426 minutes (38 games). Post ASG -2.5 in 271 minutes (27 g). On the season, the Hornets were a -5 in Net Efficiency.
Obviously a small sample size and a -2.5 isn't good. But that's a promising turnaround. After the ASG, that is the 4th best 2 man lineup on the team that played over 150 minutes.
There is promise in that lineup. If they think Davis can handle the load at C in the future, Ryno is a great fit. If they see Davis as strictly a PF, then moving him for Asik makes sense.

I doubt it. This rumor is all Houston if I had to guess.

IIRC, Evans shot ~38% on spot up 3s last year.

we have next offseason to find shooters. nobody is expecting a title next year
you have to think long term, not short term
while capped out, what will we be more likely to find: an elite rim protector or a 3 point shooter?

With the offense we are adding in Evans and holiday one thing that could cost us games is offensive boards. Adding a guy like Asik will cut down on theirs and add to ours.

yea we arent trading ryno unless parsons is involved, ehich he wont be

Obviously, we differ on this but we are all Pelican fans so let's put our trust in Demps. Dude has had a magical offseason so far.

Who said Demps was done after/if this Asik deal goes through? There are other shooters out there, but there are no centers.
With that said, I LOVE RA, and I wish he could somehow stay, but we can't have our cake and eat it too.

I don't think Davis is seen as a 5. Primarily a 4, obviously. I would even say AD has as good a chance at 3 in the future as he does playing 5. So asik makes a lot of sense.

Memphis and Chicago both shot under 15 3-pointers per game and made runs into playoffs. And yes I realize both those teams have low post players in Boozer/Z-bo/Gasol. Not advocating the trade, but teams can win without 3 point specialists.

what would you guys think of motiejunas coming with asik?
