Three team trade Asik//Parsons to Pels, EG10 to Hawks, Josh Smith to Rockets (main parts obviously there may be a few more parts to this)...boom

tells us is that Dell is looking for a legit starter at the 5, and that Anderson is the way he's looking to get it done.
It also tells me that Gordon isn't worth a ham sandwich in the trade market. Half the team is made up of guards and he's looking to shop Anderson.

Man this thread blew up fast
I just hate the fact that we'd have to lose Anderson. This is kinda where I draw the line. If Demps does this, I feel like he's rushing it too much.

I already said trading Anderson for Asik after resigning Aminu to such a big amount doesn't add up. Houston could be using us to leverage Atlanta into taking Lin. We may not even be involved in talks at all. Even if nothing comes of it, it could go for a bit.

Source close to Dwight Howard: "The reports are inaccurate. The Lakers haven't been informed of anything" WHY WON'T THIS END!?

Dwight Howard is en route to L.A. now to meet with Lakers. I'm told the extra money that he could earn in L.A. is still weighing on Howard.
Alex Kennedy ?@AlexKennedyNBA 4m
The only teams that have been informed that they're out of the running are the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors.

I'm really sorry, everyone. I want this to be over too. I'm just tweeting what I'm hearing from very, very reliable sources.

Dwight Howard will meet with the Lakers very soon and then an official decision is expected "tonight or tomorrow morning." #almostover

And it looks like, if traded to the Pels, we would face the nasty salary jump:

The rules have long said that such players (restricted free agents whose original teams match another team's offer sheet) can't be traded in the first year of the deal without their consent. In the second year, Lin's contract would have been essentially a two-year, $20 million deal -- a much less attractive contract than three years and $25 million. What's more, the trade partners would have been teams willing to offer a player worth about $5 million, to match the Year 2 salary, but also be able to pay $15 million (plus, in some cases, luxury taxes) the next year. Not a lot of teams fit the bill.

If Dwight picks LA after this, I will be so damn happy.
The Houston fans on here are incredibly insufferable. Would be soooo sweet.

Yup. RT @mcten What's the hold up? "It's hard to walk away from $30 million," said source close to Dwight Howard. "Harder than we thought."

That's how it would have gone down if the Knicks kept Lin. A little later in the article:

If the Rockets want to trade Lin, his annual salary counts as $8.4 million at any time, making him that much less of a risk.

I've often wondered if the league would let Howard walk away for nothing. They depend on the Lakers being a draw and being in the tax. Maybe Stern has stepped in.

But Asik/Lin dont fit that bill, right? Or does it not matter as long as they sign the poison pill contract?

Maybe Howard is coming to his senses and realizing that the combo of himself, Harden and Josh Smith isn't exactly all that "super" after all.
He can make a fortune in LA as the centerpiece to a team that will have plenty of cap room AND is the most attractive location in the league. Poor baby has to sacrifice one season as a non-contender.
Reality is, the Rockets can build a team to maybe win the West next season and then lose to the Heat. Because they will lose to the Heat. Then where would he rather be? In L.A. making much more money where LeBron AND Dirk might sign as free agents? Or capped-out Houston?
