I know it's an exhibition, but this alone should get Willie fired

It is beyond frustrating how Willie has a guy that solves one of our biggest weaknesses just rotting away on the bench.

Would y’all be ok with, say, 4-5 fewer wins if it meant Hawkins was in the rotation?

It’s a rhetorical question, really. Y’all would rage over that, too.

Jose always wins his minutes and leads the team in that category but somehow Willie managed to pull him out of the rotation for no fricking reason.

Jose’s minutes went to Hawkins. And then Hawkins’ minutes went back to Jose.

So again, you can probably play Hawkins, but it will likely cost you wins in the short term.

Is anyone under the assumption that we’re winning the championship this season with the team as currently constructed?

I would be 100% okay with every Naji minute going to Hawk for the rest of the season even if it meant 3 more losses on the season (I do not think Naji is worth 9 wins over the course of an entire season).

So only 4-5 teams should play to win and every other team should play to be better in a year or two?

No one around here has pushed harder than I have for the team to move on from Naji and for a variety of reasons, but even I will tell you that there’s a regular season cost to doing so.

Just like there’s a postseason cost to not getting Hawkins in the 8 man.

I don’t feel like playing Hawk over Naji is playing to lose, but yes you should be realistic and realize that it makes more sense this season to play Hawk over Naji even if that means that you are only 98% of what you could possibly be this season.

ETA: the front office should’ve solved this issue though, this is on them.

Not to mention Naji won’t even be on the team next year

I said a year ago that they should trade Naji for a second and it was not received well. And I can only assume that they didn’t get offers for him this year that they found adequate. Plus they probably value depth considering he can fill in for our two injury-prone stars.

I think you’re suggesting that Hawkins can take Naji’s minutes, but it’s more likely that Hawkins minutes come at the expense of Jose.

I don’t see why it would have to be Jose’s and not Naji’s.

Because Jose and Hawkins can’t play together.

While I agree with you that he needs work, Willie don’t give a shite about +/-. Jose always wins his minutes and leads the team in that category

Jose’s RPM (real +\-) has been in the negative the last three seasons. It’s the most comprehensive on/off stat. ESPN pulled it from their site recently but I’d bet Hawkins fares better in RPM than BPM

BPM is simply pulled from box score data. It’s a shitty stat especially for guys who don’t get a lot of minutes

Or........or..........or ......... How about this.........

Take away Naji's minutes ??. He is the only player in the rotation that doesn't bring a great skill to the floor. He's not "good" or "very good" at anything. Let alone great.
