Bryce Dejean-Jones went to wrong floor of girlfriend's apartment. He was locked out, banged on door multiple times.

That's so tragic.

If she "didn't answer" he probably thought he was busting her fricking somebody else. Especially with a man asking who is it.

I understand the theory and that it does happen. But he kicked one door in and attempted to kick a 2nd. That doesn't really jive if that is actually what happened

It just doesn't make sense why a guy who just signed to the most money of his life would rob people living in apartments

Sounds like a logical explanation.

Yep.

Jackson was correct in a sense and BDJ assumed a woman issue.

Thats a Shakespere tragedy almost.

That seems like it wasn't the case here.

The apartment complex in their release framed it as BDJ was on the wrong floor at 5am trying to get into his "estranged acquaintance's" apartment.

Started to piece it together now.

BDJ gets a little drunk on a Friday night. Decides to talk to his former girlfriend to see if things can still work out. Knocks on door. Confused why she isnt answering. Hears a man's voice. Gets mad, and decides to break in.

Obviously BDJ is still at fault, but damn bro. Life can change in an instant.

He was a guy who dealt with anger issues in the past also. Sucks that he never learned to control it and it had to be his undoing.

I was just talking about this type of scenario on the whether you would shoot an intruder no questions asked. I'd at least wait to see if the person poses an actual threat.

Yea per flyer from complex, I can see why he was kicking in doors if they weren't together. That makes more sense

That is terrible, not turrible, terrible.

Prayers sent to family

ETA:

It is with deep sadness that the Pelicans organization acknowledges the sudden passing of Bryce Dejean-Jones," the Pelicans said in a statement. "We are devastated at the loss of this young man's life who had such a promising future ahead of him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bryce's family during this difficult time."

According to Dallas police, officers responded to a call about a shooting at an apartment at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday morning. The resident of the apartment said an individual had kicked open his front door and entered his apartment. The resident, who had been asleep, retrieved a handgun and called out to the individual, but did not receive an answer. The individual kicked the bedroom door and the resident fired his gun at the individual, who left the apartment and collapsed in the breezeway. The individual was transported to the hospital, where he died.

Dallas police told ESPN it does not appear that DeJean-Jones and the resident of the apartment knew each other previously.

Not going to take a firm position until the details are final, but damn that is a shame.

Man forgot all this "Oh he was breaking into this to do that" type shite. A young man just lost his life and a 1 year old will never know what her father was like. This is just awful.
