If he does what you’re asking he’s more valuable than now but he’s still not worth a max.

Brian Windhorst discussed BI on his podcast and speculated why the Pels are struggling to trade him.
all those points definitely make sense... it's not a lack of talent with BI, he's a very good player.... if he fit with Zion and what we are clearly trying to do, NO ONE would want him traded.... but he just doesn't... it became painfully clear that Zion and BI just simply do not truly fit together... wish it wasn't so, but it is what it is...
that being said, it does seem, at least for the time being, that we will be seeing BI back in a Pelicans uniform next season... if he adapts his role and playing style, then great, we'll be better for it... if not, we will still win some games, but it will be harder than it should be, and eventually we will look to move him, with less regard for what we get back for him, and it will be viewed as if we "lost" the trade...
you can see this shite coming a mile away.... bookmark this one if you want, but the writing is pretty much on the wall already

We ask this of him every year. It never happens. Let it go.
No, WE don't do shite. YOU wish he would. The team, meanwhile, asks him to lead the offense because Zion isn't in shape and we have no other player capable of doing so.

Wtf you ACTUALLY think the coaching didn’t ask him to shoot more 3s this year??!! Lol
Stop talking out if your arse and ignore facts P brain. Hes shot near 4 threes the past 3 years. Hes not going to magically go back to shooting 6 threes with 4 others guys that need the ball.
You're acting like an a-hole.

So you’re telling me Willie asks the whole team to shoot threes, has literally said at pressers for the team to shoot 40 threes a game, CJ completely changed his game to shoot threes but for some reason they’re not asking BI to do this?? They’re asking him to lead the offense but not shoot threes?? This is where your BI support becomes personal attachment and not logical.

Yes I was to him because he went off on me for having a differing opinion instead of just having a normal discussion. I wasn’t to you so no need to butt in.

He needs to be traded for a good fit with our team. Even if the total talent coming back is not equal we need people that fit.
He is talented and a good player; however, Zion is going to be the primary offensive force. Another highly paid (max/close to max) has to complement him. Also BI has not played more than about 75% of games since he came to the Pels.

1. Paying a player max salary to a player who's borderline top 30 at best has historically been a death sentence to NBA front office's, I.E Bradley Beal, Zach Lavine.I don't want the Pels to be the team who adds the next name to that list.
2. He's shown that he is unwilling to adapt his game to become more efficient/additive to his teammates. He has plenty of talent to make a max contract a value but he's shown that he doesn't fit well with better talent. I.E FIBA, Zion. He wants to be the #1 option.
If he would be willing to shoot 6-8 3's a game while playing the defense he showed last year in addition to everything else he brings to the table then I'd be willing to consider him staying long term at a max salary, but even if he does it for one year he's shown that isn't who he is and that he will eventually revert back to what we see every other season in his career.
Usually when stars are traded, it’s because they are the ones who are disgruntled and want out.
But in this case, it’s the team that wants out. It’s hard to sell another team on a player you’re looking to get rid of.
I know for myself, I would not want for my team (Rockets) to trade for Ingram. I know I’m not the only one.

That’s why I don’t expect a necessarily huge haul in a trade of Ingram.
It is a little easier for a large market to overpay for a player though.

I have never thought other teams would. You can go back to the beginning of the season where I said I would trade him to the Nets for Claxton, DFS, and a pick or two. I don't think his value is much higher than that at its peak last year. About what we gave for DJM. Who I consider a similar caliber player on a better contract at a more needed position for the pelicans. Personally I want to build our bench depth while opening a starting role for Trey and pocketing some future pics for another upgrade with CJ's contract if we're ready to go all in. It's why I was fine with the hypothetical Kings trade with Barnes and Huerter plus picks.
