Terrible tanking...but it's hard to be upset at Davis's continued growth. He may be too good to really tank

So this team decided to take a break from tanking.

Highly unlikely we get a top five protected pick. Seriously. So, shite, let's enjoy winning.

ETA: I know. What a concept.

i'm anti tank, but "highly unlikely" is a bit strong considering they are only 3 games out of 5th worst record.

Glad the Pels broke their losing streak.

I don't like tanking in most circumstances, and this year in particular when chances are that the team won't even get the draft pick.

We're only one more injury away.

I can't express how obscene the pro-tanking arguments look in print. Loser mentality and, frankly, I'm still looking for objective evidence that conscious tanking has ever really worked in the NBA (OKC is not an example).

Not an equivalent example, imo. Nor is it realistic.

ETA: You do realize you're talking about a season from fifteen years ago.

Of course it's not an equivalent example, there is no Tim Duncan in this draft. But that doesn't matter because we already have that, we just need more pieces and the only way we can do that is through the draft because all of our cap room is tied up.

I'm sorry, but we're not going to be able to trade Gordon's contract without taking significant money and years back.

Well, this year's draft isn't going to save the franchise, so . . . guess we're fricked?

So you're saying there is nobody in this draft that can help the team?

Is that really what you are saying?

Not really. I'm saying the chances are very, very small that we get anyone out of this draft. We're better off developing what we have, playing hard every night and hoping we can move an asset and get something in return. We are not as locked in as you think, imo.
