It really is funny how quickly memories fade for our fans. Herb literally made a defensive play against a top 10 player in the league thus far this year to win the last game that he finished. Herb has done it for a full season plus. Dyson is showing some great things and the potential is unreal. Dyson also has had some rookie moments. He’s 25 games in. We should be happy that we have both. But, I also read that Zion should be coming off the bench repeatedly on this board about 13 games ago, so I should never be surprised.

I also think it's fine to ask on a fan forum if it is a stronger starting unit. I don't think we know the answer to it yet since we've only had BI, CJ, and Zion play ten total games together and what surround pieces work best with that foundation. In any event, the closing unit is more important and usually features Larry over Jonas.

Herb is great. I love that he's a Pel. I am absolutely not dissing him in any way.
But Dyson is already a better defender, and there's just no argument about the offensive end. Dyson had 8 assists yesterday with zero turnovers. Dyson is shooting 39% from 3 (Herb was 34% last season and is 29% this season).
And Dyson is just getting started! He gets more comfortable every game.

You may be right, but per 36 Herb averages more PPG, more steals, more blocks, and shoots a higher percentage from the FT line. Dyson has a higher FG% and averages more assists. I think that matches the eye test pretty closely.
IMO Herb is a more aggressive finisher, and is more disruptive on D, while Dyson is a more natural distributor. Really those are player profiles that should compliment each other very well on the court together and that also seems to match with my eyes.

Defensively, I think that Herb is better at navigating screens, and his long arms make him better at getting blocks, steals, and deflections.
What makes Dyson elite is his footwork. He's already one of the league's best at staying in front of his man. And, for a guard, Dyson is already an incredible defensive rebounder, consistently boxing out much bigger men.
It's such a luxury to be able to debate who's better, because they're both among the league's elite.

Trey Murphy has the highest FT shooting percent in the league at 94%.
BI is 7th in the league in 3P shooting at 47%.
Zion is second behind Tatum at +250 in +- so far. (Tatum way out in front at +293, but also played many more games.)
Pels also have no one in the top 30 of total MPG.

Dyson’s rebounding, passing, and low usage are important to have on the floor. No one else checks those boxes. And that’s not even getting into his defense
