Lue would be at least tolerable over Kidd.

Even if Atkinson is their choice and Langdon lined it up the day he got fired, the team has to go through the process of promoting/firing Gentry and then conducting a search for a replacement.

Wouldn't it make sense that they should already know who the next head coach is if the plan was always a 1-and-done year for Gentry? I would hope so.
Honestly, I don't even care about names right now though. The prospect of a new coach is good enough for me.

I would hope that if Gentry is fired, they will look at Atkinson as well as maybe Lee, Griffin or Ham. I like someone from the Bucks because I think this team needs to be built around Zion like the Bucks built around Giannis.

I don’t have a big problem with Lue. He’s just not a preferred option.
Jason Kidd is unacceptable. I’d rather Jerry Stackhouse or Charles Lee.

Griffin has done a very good job in roster transformation.
He’s been bad with coaches and retaining Gentry was stupid.
I and others justified it because we assumed it was short term. The amount of organizational turnover was extreme, so having at least some continuity made sense, and they have a long prior relationship. We all assumed it would be a one year thing. It’s easy to justify things you shouldn’t to try and make it through a year of bad basketball.
If Gentry is back next year then it’s a major fail.
If he makes a poor retread hire like Lue, Kidd, or Jackson it’s an unforgivable offense.
We will see. This story isn’t told yet.
