Listening to the presser, it sounded like they didn't expect Fears to be there and was probably going to take Queen at 7 like we all heard. Then they got aggressive and went up to get Queen. Called Queen a foundational piece...

Dumars said when he talked to Poole during the trade, Poole said he'll do anything Dumars needed from him.
Dumars said Murray called him earlier to get Queen and Fears number. Said he's "all in" .....
Said he talked to Murray the day after the interview..said he had a good conversation and said it won't be a problem.
Gave details about the issues Murray had and what Dumars and co can do better for him. Etc..

I don't know how.... we all knew the top 2, then after that there was Bailey, Edgecomb, Knueppel, Johnson, and Fears.... it was pretty well known the Sixers were taking Edgecomb, so that left Bailey, Knueppel, Johnson, and Fears.... one of those 4 were definitely going to be available to us, so it shouldn't have been surprising, at all, to see Fears still available to us, or any of those 4 I just mentioned, for that matter....

Queen is actually a really good player. People are going to love him

They probably thought Utah was going to take him. Utah was getting a lot of Buzz with Fears. Then they shocked everyone by taking Ace.

but still, the point remains... one of those 4, who were all higher rated players, was going to be there..... there is NO WAY they were going to leave any one of those 4 players on the board in favor of Queen.... absolutely ZERO percent chance....

and they picked Fears, which goes to my point.... Fears would have been the lowest rated of those 4 I mentioned, so, again, there was ZERO percent chance they were taking Queen over any of those 4 guys....
if they didn't take Queen over Fears, they damn sure wasn't taking him over Bailey, Johnson, or Knueppel....
