He clearly managed BI’s minutes. For a player who usually plays the entire first quarter, he came out 4 minutes into the game. This team was an absolute defensive turnstile this entire game, because we played incredibly soft with no intensity and somehow the focus is on BI and Nance. The guy who actually kept us in the game in the first quarter and the guy who gave us 13, 6 and 4 on 5-8 shooting. The insanity on here never ceases to amaze.

WG should not have started BI. TM3 has been shooting pretty much lights out from 3. It spaces the floor much better than BI. And with them packing the paint Trey should have started to give Z more space. BI did get going but with a mins restriction as soon as he got going he was pulled. And WG knew that, bad all on his part.

You don’t think those players don’t have anything to do with our defensive issues or how we played tonight?? Nance was attacked all night on defense, cant rebound and is s black hole on offense. BI/Zion started the game and lakers got on us quick and then again in the third. These things don’t matter to today’s performance???

If you think Nance was worse than JV on defense or anyone was worse than CJ or Zion on defense today, watch the replay. Our biggest problem today was the Lakers coaches completely exposed how we play pick and roll coverage and we never adjusted or were able to adjust (which is a huge win for Darvin Ham and a huge loss for Green). It was a layup fest and acting like this was because of adding Nance and BI back into the lineup is idiotic. And I’d love to get a few more black holes on offense if they give me 13 points (on 5-8 shooting, with a three) and 4 assists.

No but you’re proving my point. Both are bad. But JV gives you a consistent offensive threat and much better rebounder. Do you think Nance gives you that? Who do you think AD would prefer to guard Nance or JV? And don’t gloat about his 13 points like they were impactful in any sense.

To a degree yes. A lot of it was also related to our offense since our spacing was screwed up and we didn’t take or make as many 3s. To top it off we continued to play zone against a player who is smart enough to disect it to perfection (Lebron). Lebron won this game with his decisive passing/scoring on our zone defenses and our stagnated offense didn’t help.

It all works hand in hand. Bad offense leads to bad defense. Zion/BI starting lineup is just bad offense- lakers made their runs on these lineups. Nance playing 31 minutes was asinine and he didn’t have block or provide any rim protection. He had one steal as his defensive contribution. Not to mention bad rebounding on several possessions. But according to you he had 13 points in 31 minutes so he played well lol

If some of you all think this game had anything other than not being able to match the other teams’ physical presence, you haven’t been watching the past 3 years.

bullshite. They got layup or dunk after layup or dunk in their half court offense the entire game. That has NOTHING to do with anything you did on offense. We had no focus and no intensity on defense at any point in this game. It was an utter embarrassment.

I quoted his offense because someone stated he was a black hole on offense despite contributing 13 points and 4 assists on 5-8 shooting. So you can continue to “lol” like a 12 year old all you want.

Ok so them beating us was JUST due to poor defensive effort? Just bad defensive effort all of a sudden? Ok Im sure we’ll hear the same crap on Tuesday too.

Majority of the half court stuff was zone defense which Willie kept running nonstop and Lebron picked apart. Thats not effort its scheme. Its constantly playing Nance who made no significant impact on this game. There was no effort to use JV as a post presence or to help rebound. No action as usual between Zion and BI. Cant even remember us playing Zion at 5- big part if our success recently. It wasnt just defensive effort- offensively we weren’t the same team as well.

Yes defensive effort could be much better but there are several issues that led to this loss. The same issues this board had complained about all season.

Whats your point of this? You’re pointing it out like hes an offensive threat- is that what you’re saying? If you get offended by “lol” maybe you need stop being a sensitive 12 year old girl and get out of your feelings.

In Willie Green's first year, the Pels kicked the Lakers' arse in 3 matchups.

JV averaged 18.3/11.3/3.7 in those 3 games, on 67.2% TS and was +17.9 on average.

But we didn't trust Val but for 3 minutes today...

And because Willie is wrong to not let Val be the main center every night, too many Pels fans incorrectly think all our centers suck.

How many times this season did we have crazy choke jobs, terrible clutch performances, shitty coaching only to have posters say over and over and over "it's just 1 game"...

Welp...

The biggest problem was that we were out coached. The Lakers had a great plan to break our pick-and-roll defense. The 2nd biggest problem was that Zion was passive and didn't attack the rim. The #3 problem was BI being out of sync defensively.

The center issues were behind those.

Right, and I gave an example of that

These and not playing Val are all issues. Not sure I follow your main premise here. Not playing Val was an issue.

Just like your #2 and #3 issue are behind your #1 but you still mentioned them, the order is not my main concern. But not playing Val was certainly an issue.

Going back again to that massive Lakers game a couple of seasons ago:
quote:

With LeBron and AD healthy in the most important game for the Pels that year for play-in purposes, JV played 38 minutes on the road.

Was 17/12/6.
Willie just continues to out think himself and is flat wrong in how he uses his center position.

We have a dude who is solid, we've seen him be solid for years, we've seen it against this same Lakers core group. We don't play him and instead play a dude who is consistently not giving us anything on either side.

We can argue analytics, but at the end of the day the game was lost when the decision was made to start BI and sit JV in perpetuity.

When you have no runway left, you dont decide to change out one of the airplanes engines at takeoff.
