This is actually why he should NOT start, and we should stagger him to play less minutes with CJ/zion/BI and then increase his usage by playing through him on bench units.

I can see this

I don’t think it will happen

But I can see it

Glad we finally ended the losing streak going into February. Need to start a nice lengthy win streak.

To be honest I don’t think there are many coaches in the league that would move Jonas to the bench on this team

There are a few I think would utilize him better, but that’s another convo

Can someone explain how Jonas got what appeared like a moving screen foul when he was actually holding the ball the whole time. The defender can’t just run into the ball handler.

I mean I don’t think I have ever seen that called on another player ever.

Larry can hold down the other bigs pretty good. JV should be running the second unit. He would have these type of nights consistently. IIt would also give Zion room to operate.

I think Willie did a good job tonight. You could tell he emphasized getting the ball to Jonas to take of advantage of the mismatch. It was even a good call to have Naji running the point in clutch time. He did a great job handling the pressure. His offense/defense subs weren’t bad tonight either. I don’t necessarily think Willie is a good coach, but I do think he was a good coach tonight.

So not to rain on Jonas parade but where was this guy last year? Is this contract year Jonas basically?

He turned his shoulder into the player that was tracking BI. I think it was Aaron Holiday. That’s always a foul but they don’t always call it for sure

Having the ball doesn't change anything. Otherwise, a charge wouldn't exist. If you can set a screen, you can set an illegal screen.

It may have seemed odd, but it was an obvious offensive foul.

My point is the defender ran into him as the ball handler. He turned and had his butt out, but he didn’t run into a stationary defender. Just a weird play. Just because this little pg ran into a brick wall doesn’t mean it is a foul.

I personally think AD and Joel didn’t really think about it and related to a moving screen; however, Jonas was the ball handler.

How was it a charge? The defender ran into him.

It is like the defender was running in a straight line and the ball handler stepped in front of him. That is basically what happened. Never have I seen that called on the ball handler. I have watched a ton of NBA basketball also.

Are you actually implying Jonas is only giving effort and playing well because it’s a contract year?? Seriously?

I never said anything about effort. I am ASKING not implying that why wasn’t Jonas play like this the first two years with the pelicans?- which is a fair question to ask. His defense has been remarkably better this year and he also has been much more efficient offensively.

Also if him being in his contract year has anything to do with his improved play this season?-it may be shocking but even players like Jonas care about how much money they make. You guys make Jonas to act like he doesn’t care about his upcoming contract extension. Like hes some guy that doesn’t care about his salary. Every NBA player cares.

It's going to be a sad day when JV is gone. Dude is nothing but professional and one of my favorite pels ever.

I think it's a mistake to trade him. I don't think he's our long term center but I would love to keep him around for another 2-3 years to just come in for 20 minutes and go to work down low. I think theres value in that.

I've said it plenty but i would trade Nance and picks for Okongwu and also try to grab some center prospects in the draft. Then re-sign JV. Try to find our center of the future but still have JV to fall back on if one fails.
