I'd be really scared to give him more then what Jrue is getting, honestly.
It's how the NBA works. Seasoned veterans who produce get paid.

But putting financial considerations and 3-4 years down the road: fap.
3-4 years down the road when the contract expires. :fap:

I think he will demand something around 11 million a yr, and I can see him joining us cause we are a much better team than most teams on that list

Jrue/EG/Iggy/Davis/Ryno is not a lineup that is "ready to compete?" What else do you need?
If losing in the 1st, maybe 2nd round is fine, then sure that roster could probably do that.

Hmmm . . . what if you traded Gordon for Iguodala . . . it might be a bad contract, but it's a better bad contract.
Thoughts?

No, we need to see what EG can do with this roster. You dont trade him for a near 30 year old.

Ig for Gordon gets you a much more durable player, but drastically reduces scoring.
You're still in the same position you were before: looking for a wing. But this time you need scoring.

If Davis progresses into the 20/10 he should, that's an extremely talented team that will make a lot of noise in the playoffs over the next 3-4 years

In a couple years, when we're actually ready to compete, thats gonna be a terrible contract.
If we did land Iggy then Demps would almost have to draft the next Kahwi Leonard to replace him. It's really a catch 22. How can you turn down the immediate legitimacy? That kind of legitimacy gets you at the top of the Free Agent line, but you won't have the money/trade assets to land them.

We really can't offer him too much more unless Demps has a cheap Lopez replacement in his back pocket. If Iggy becomes a Pelican he will likely be leaving $10+ million over 4 years on the table because Atlanta and Detroit can throw max money at him.

My cock is out and I'm applying the lotion.
If/when we sign him I won't be able to stop myself

Denver, Hawks, Pistons, Kings, Mavs, Pelicans, Warriors, Rockets
Over-thinking it...
Pistons are not as close as we are at making strides.
Kings are hot garbage.
Hawks, Mavs, Rockets will be tied up with Dwight, Iggy will be their fallback and he'll know that.
Warriors would put him in a position of being the old man with Harrison Barnes getting big minutes.
Really leaves us and Denver with being the no downside and there's got to be a reason he turned down 16M to "test the waters"

Yeah I don't see a way we can get him unless we are moving Ryno...which I do not want to do.
I see ATL being a legit option for him.

Damn it feels good to have an owner who actually wants to make the team better

Btw, I know the Holiday deal can't go down util the 10th or 11th for cap reasons, so does that holdup affect our ability to sign guys on the 1st?

One thing I did read recently was that David West may have changed the market for older almost but not quite max guys like Iggy. Shorter deals and not actually max money. I doubt Iggy comes here for 2/$24 if ATL has 4/$60 on the table, he did opt out for a long term deal after all, but it'd be nice if his only 4 year max offer was from Detroit.

Can't do that because we'll really lack scoring then. If they find a way to dump EG, that leaves us in a better position IF we add another reasonably priced scorer, right?

I think we have to work any deal for Iggy or whoever the same way we would with Jrue on the books. Otherwise you risk making the Jrue deal fall apart.
