I think his value has gone past one first honestly. If those are the only two players we’re offering might have to add more draft capital or put less protection on the one we send.

They can have the 2024 pick unprotected

This probably means Jarrett Allen. By the way Cavs got Mobley back and Garland is on the way. I think they may really want to move JA moving forward.
Read an article that Cavs are not making JA available in any trade talks.

LINK .

Typical trade posturing. Just like we heard the pels are now interested in Okungwu and Gafford. As we get closer, will be a lot more posturing.

Yeah, I think they’re posturing trying to get Allen, if it doesn’t work I bet they fall back to Capella and try for Allen again in the offseason using Capella’s 20 million salary.

JA does not help the spacing issues this team faces . He simply can just cover up for some of the defensive deficiencies .

Just a little extra make up on a pretty good looking pig .

JA has scored and rebounded the past 3 games with these stats:

20 pts and 17 reb
24 pts and 14 reb
21 pts and 12 reb

They went 2-1 over that stretch that included wins over bucks and clippers. Hes put similar stats for the past month.
Overall hes averaging 15 points almost 11 boards and career high 3 assists.

The spacing issues to me are more about Willie’s rotations than anything else. We have shooters on this team to help with spacing if Willie would choose to use them.

He's a vertical spacer.

There’s like 5 centers who can fix both our spacing and rim protection issues and none of them are getting traded because surprise surprise, they are all valuable as frick and already play for teams competing for championships/are franchise cornerstones. So odds are very good that we will not be able to acquire that players at the deadline or in the offseason.

The Pels will have to focus on getting a center that fits better offensively or defensively, not both. It is what it is.

I’m aware . That’s not to say trading for JA is a bad idea or bad trade .

However ,

Shuffling tertiary pieces does not do much to raise the ceiling or floor of this team .

The band aid needs to be ripped off while you can get value for a particular player . Give your self a chance at a player or players that have the potential to raise the ceiling/floor or a player that may help the team as a whole be better than the sum of its parts .

I agree with this but I don’t think that band-aid gets ripped off till this offseason, if it does at all. They’ll give this team some reinforcements and see how far they can go this season.

For this year, you better have a CLEAR picture of your next 2-3 moves if you're moving a tertiary piece like JV for JA.

That means your next move needs to focus on improving your spacing, ball handling, or both.
