I thought about this too. Could have been leaked by the Pels to get the Nets to pull the trigger on a Lin trade.

Which would you guys prefer:
Moore/Ajinca/Qpon* for RJ
or
Give up a first+ for Lin
Bledsoe would obviously be a no brainer

Scotto just updated and said that QPon could be included as well

Pistons & Pelicans discussed a trade of Reggie Jackson for E'Twaun Moore, Alexis Ajinca & possibly Quincy Pondexter.
Perfect while we are at it lets include Crawford and Cook as well

He's greater than the sum of what you'd be giving up. Tired of giving up 1st round picks (Cousin deal being the exception)

In the long run though, we'd be taking on more money, because Qpon comes off the books after this season, Ajinca comes off the following year, while Jackson has 3 years left with his salary increasing each year.
As long as they avoid the tax this year I don't see why anyone cares. He could be an improvement. The team just needs to get to a point of lovking in Cousins.

That depends entirely on which Reggie Jackson we're trading for. Best case scenario for both players Jackson is better than Lin. Not only do you not give up a 1st, but you don't have to over pay him for 4-5 years. Even if Lin only leverages the Pels to resign him for the $17 Reggie is making, Reggie would have 2 years left while Lin would be starting a new deal and be harder to trade if that became necessary.

Dell's a fricking moron if his mindset is "all or nothing" for this season
As much as I hate Dell I don't think this mindset is terrible. If we don't make the playoffs this year Boogie probably doesn't resign. We wallow in mediocrity for a couple of years with only AD to carry the team. AD leaves when his contract is up or we trade him. In 5 years we are left without a superstar when at one point we had 2. This is a make it or break it year for the Pels if they want to have any chance at competing for a title in the next decade

Another benefit of the trade per MM (for this offseason anyway):
quote:
If Pels send Ajinca, Pon, and Moore out for Jackson, they can use pretty much all of the remaining MLE and not worry about tax.
quote:
Or use part of it and sign Cunningham. Or stretch Asik and use all of it, sign DC, and use BAE and TPE

on top of that if you get another asset with RJ as some have mentioned, then that gives you more to work with so far as dumping asik and/or adding a viable wing.

It would have to be lottery protected to be ok with giving a first for lin

This is what I was getting at. I think this move will allow us to make some others.

I'm gonna just be mad until something positive happens.

The Pelicans could offload a bad contract like Omer Asik or Solomon Hill if they could attach a draft pick. The soonest pick the Pelicans can deal is 2019 after trading this year’s pick to Sacramento as part of the Cousins trade.
This was written a week ago by a guy that follows the Nets. How does it change your opinion to trade 1st + Asik for Lin?

MM just said that Jrue will be the starting SG, and they will be getting a starting PG.
I think Dell has a few deals in the works and this is the closest to popping. Letting the other teams see if they want to pull the trigger

Well this is false.
Fansided is fan bloggers that don't know shite.

The write up is wrong... now that the draft is over we can trade the 2018 first if we wanted to.

Yeah
As I speculated earlier it wouldn't be a shock to see dell leak this to drive down Lin/Bledsoe a bit then take the best deal.
It makes sense
