I personally think that this trade is remarkable for the Pelicans but also pretty decent one for the Kings.
I truly don't reckon that the Kings really thought they had a legitimate chance to make DeMarcus Cousins re-sign in their team again, I'm well-aware to the fact that Cousins said he loves Sacramento, but I also think that Cousins loves winning as well, also Vivik wasn't sure he was willing to offer Cousins with a 200 million dollar contract, Kings had to do what they had to do and decided to trade Cousins in order to build for the future and start something new in the city of Sacramento, and we might find this move effective in the far future.
For the Pelicans, this trade could be historic move by the management if it proves to be a success, Cousins and Davis together can be dominating the league, we might see another version of two big men playing well together like we've seen in the past with Timmy and David Robinson, Cousins is indisputably (at least in my opinion) the best center in the league, varied moves in the post, decent rebounder, soft hand from the three-point line or anywhere else on the court, a terrific player who also believes in loyalty, I also believe that if the reminder of this season will go well the Pelicans will be able to re-sign him for more years to come.
As for Omri Casspi, I really likes this guy, last season was his best season in the NBA, where he was shooting supremely from the three-point line, cutting to the basket and making good plays in general for the Kings, also a decent rebounder for his role, not a very good defender but also not a worst one, I sincerely reckon that he is a better player than Solomon Hill almost in every perimeter.
This trade has the potential to make the Pelicans one of the most frightening teams in the Western Conference, also the Pelicans are about 2.5 games behind the eighth spot in the playoffs, it is obviously possible to chase this spot.

Are we sure we can re-sign him this summer?
Posted on 2/20/17 at 7:11 am to tke857
Let's hope so!
So pumped up! I hope they start kicking that arse

We can try to get him to sign an extension this summer but there's no incentive for him to do so. Otherwise, he doesn't become a free agent till 2018.

He has until next year, not this summer.

If we get top 3, What would SAC get.....the pickle?
Posted on 2/20/17 at 7:18 am to Lilpickles
They would get our 1st next year if it isnt top 3 right?
Posted on 2/20/17 at 7:19 am to Lilpickles
It gets pushed back a year basically which would be a huge blow to them. I personally want to see good basketball to revive this fan base and team. Playoffs would go so far with changing the perspective of the pelicans.

This is amazing. I've been so burned out on the pels, this has relight the fire for sure. Warriors biggest weakness is the front court too, will be interesting to see if we can possibly challenge them moving forward.

Wish we could have picked up GT oh well. Pels stacked! Western division fuuuked!

This is probably the most hyped I've been for this franchise since the rebrand

As someone who only casually follows the NBA and the Pels, does this trade even make the pelicans better? Seems like they gave up a shite ton just to get one impact player
Sorry, I know this has probably been discussed 35 times

In the NFL world yes this would be considered a lot. In the NBA? This was a complete and total steal.
I woke up to this and am still in shock they pulled this off.

The Kings could have re-signed him, but they didn't want to commit $200M to Boogie and continue to maybe battle for the 8th seed and deal w/ him on a losing team. They have little talent and weren't going to draw free agents. They made stupid trades so had limited future assets to build around him.
