Especially if year two is a team option, or at worst, a mutual option. Or if its scheduled like Lopez or something. Pure cap space is worth the risk.

Like I've said before, I'm totally on board with this if no players are being shipped out. I still think it's a failed experiment, but it doesn't hurt too much if the only thing we lose is $3m in cap space.

Would like to see $3m this year, $3.14 next year, and $3.25m in the third year as a team option. The second year being guaranteed would give him more incentive to sign with us and the team option would help us out a ton if he works out. I'm almost certain that would give us his Bird rights, so we'd have some control in that 4th season, even if it just means getting something back in a S&T. Plus I really don't give a shite about that $3.14m guaranteed next season. Lingering just a bit under the cap isn't the best place to be. We should be looking to be over the cap next offseason and using the MLE on that final piece.

shite, if Hilton Armstrong could make $2.8 mile for the Hornets, I don't mind throwing 3 at Greg Oden.

players that have played pickup with him recently say he is in great shape and is really moving well despite numerous knee surgeries that have derailed his once promising NBA career.
what indications do we have on his health? I'm sure it's been discussed but what are the details on his knee injuries? Will he ever be the same physically?

I always liked this guy, although I know we had guys like this before, i.e. injury prone. Baron Davis, now Eric Gordon, etc. I say take a shot at him. I wouldn't mine seeing him here.

From earlier in this thread or the other one his agent had indicated that "teams will need a few weeks to sift through medical reports". I think if you gave him a workout right now he'd pass with flying colors. The question is what kind of mileage can you put on him before breaking down. Can he play 15 MPG? Can he play back to backs? Those are all my own arbitrary limits. It's possible he'd have no restrictions, but I doubt it.

I think New Orleans is the best offer of its kind.

The Heat etc. offer something radically different, and his taste will determine what that us.

If he signs and it goes well... imagine... him and AD for a while, then what you could flip him for.

I am far from convinced Oden is the target of this move. He may be, but it may also be a long trade play. What could him and pick-a-guard get if things are rolling in Feb 2014? Feb 2015?

Oh, and the meeting keeps moving.i do not know why, but accommodating Oden could help the overall pitch of New Orleans given the assumed message including patience plus the value in speaking last.

Certainly that can be said for all players. However, I am sure Oden is the target. I would think they are looking at a top talent that is highly undervalued due to injuries (boom or bust).

Adrian Wojnarowski ?@WojYahooNBA 2m
Free agent center Sam Dalembert's deal with Dallas: two years, $7.5M, league sources tell Y! Partial guarantee for 2014-'15 season.

They were supposedly still going after Oden regardless, but I'd imagine it makes them a little less desperate. If/when they re-sign Wright could make a big difference. I know Oden doesn't want too much pressure on him to play big minutes, but Dalembert + Wright + Oden might be too small a role for him. Plus I'd imagine that leaves Dallas with just the room level exception, which appears to be less than what we can offer.
