A bit off topic since it pertains to Oden and not lawyery bullshite:
Which I'd imagine would eliminate one of 4 other competitors (read a few days ago from one of the legit reporters that he wasn't considering Kings, just us/Dallas/Miami/SA).
ETA: Nevermind, then.

Marc Stein ?@ESPNSteinLine 3m Mavericks closing in on deal with Samuel Dalembert to be their new starting. Deal, I'm told, should be wrapped up soon

According to Marc Stein, they're still chasing him. I can't see him seriously considering Sacramento, can't see Miami paying even more in luxury tax to sign him, so I think I'm saying that it comes down between us and SA.
With us, we can offer him the "starting" job, while limiting his minutes 15~.

I think you were right the first time. Between Wright and Dalembert, Dallas has to be out. Maybe they have the Biannual Exception, but that's just $2 million so it's less money and probably one of the least attractive situations.

@ESPNSteinLine: Other teams can offer more but Mavs have met face-to-face w/Oden twice and continue to try to sell him on merits of making comeback in Big D

I don't really see why he would want to go to an aging team on the down turn over SA, MIA, or NO.

I think Cuban wants to sign any "name" that will go there.

The New Orleans Pelicans’ pursuit of free agent Greg Oden is not an empty gesture. In fact, sources close to the situation say the Pelicans could be offering a two-year deal worth more than $3 million annually to ensure they are the team that lands the former number one overall pick.
Oden has been working toward a return to the NBA for more than 16 months, and players that have played pickup with him recently say he is in great shape and is really moving well despite numerous knee surgeries that have derailed his once promising NBA career.
...Sources close to Oden say they have been looking for a “safe” place for Oden to resume his career and that they are looking for an organization that is willing to be patient with Oden and have the right kinds of expectations for him.
...The HEAT are still very much in the discussion with Oden, however other teams have met with and presented ideas to Oden and his agents, with New Orleans being aggressive in their pursuit.

That description for what Oden wants matches our franchise fairly close.

Does not describe the Heat at all. Considering they have no center, I don't think they'll be too patient with Oden.

Like I've said before, I'm totally on board with this if no players are being shipped out. I still think it's a failed experiment, but it doesn't hurt too much if the only thing we lose is $3m in cap space.
