Jrue Holiday catches an outlet pass, quickly dribbles into the frontcourt and sees Ryan Anderson spotted up at the three-point arc. As Holiday peers further up the floor, he glimpses Anthony Davis filling the lane and cutting to the front of the rim, for a potential alley oop.
It’s a scene fans inside the revamped New Orleans Arena may witness frequently during the upcoming 2013-14 NBA season, but also one that’s already taking place this week at the USA Basketball minicamp in Las Vegas.
Holiday, Anderson and Davis were all chosen by USA Basketball, among the 28 players invited to the four-day event. In addition, Pelicans head coach Monty Williams, lead assistant coach Randy Ayers and athletic trainer Jon Ishop are participating in the prestigious basketball summit. All told, the six men comprise the largest contingent of representatives from any NBA team at USAB’s 2013 summer event. The only other NBA club to have three players invited was Cleveland (Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Tyler Zeller).
...“I’m just really excited,” Holiday said of his fellow New Orleans/USA teammates. “With the Sixers, we were pretty athletic, but we didn’t throw lobs (constantly). Anthony Davis is a freak athlete, and Ryan Anderson can knock down that three-ball. I’m just excited honestly to get my assists up.”
Holiday, who was fourth in the NBA in assists last season at 8.0 per game, said one of his primary goals this week is to become more familiar with the Pelicans organization.
“(One objective is) to mesh well with the (USA) team; obviously even more to mesh well with AD and Ryan, and Monty and Randy Ayers,” Holiday said.

That's how I read this at first.
Sounds like he may be aiming for 10 assists per game or something.

If he got 8 with that sorry group of players, then he should be able to reach 10 with us.

I don't think he has a number in mind. He had to be a one man gang in Philly and he's no doubt looking forward to having help in New Orleans.

Well our team was definitely pretty awful last year as well, but I feel like we can make fun of them with the offseason we had.

The 2012 Hornets may not have had room to talk, but the 2013 Pelicans offer Holiday so much more than the 2102 Sixers gave him. Check out this highlight reel and watch his teammates. LINK Spencer Hawes is the only one that regularly puts forth any effort to move and get open to give Holiday options.

This is all speculation, man. We don't even know if Jrue will be alive.

I think its also worth noting, a non injured Eric Gordon(i know) would be in Vegas this week too. Or at least in the team USA pipeline. He was there last year and played well for the team in 2010.

100% agree. but when comparing how shitty jrue's team last year was to how shitty the pelicans were last year, there isn't much of a difference there. that's all i'm saying. we can't make fun of them last year just because the pels had a good offseason. the hornets were pretty damn awful last year
