it's not bad...did i read earlier that there's a certain amount over 11M we could offer that the Kings wouldn't be able to match?

did we already offer below that amount?

That literally makes no sense unless he thinks he's getting an even bigger payday after the 4 years are up. I'll take it, though.

I don't see any team paying him more than 11 million a yr and I can expect the pelicans to front load this contract

It could be that, but remember there's a 5 year opt out in the CBA which occurs right after the league gets a new TV deal. We'll likely see a work stoppage and new CBA changing the league economics again.

It makes sense for him to scope the field before he signs his first offer

@MJ4Sports: Rockets GM @dmorey just told us he expects Omer Asik to play with Dwight as well as Jeremy Lin. Not on the block.

So we can put the Asik talk to rest now guys.

Supposedly they told Josh Smith he was plan B if they didn't sign Howards, so obviously when Howard ask if they'd bring in another max guy they said no.

Why? Because he is meeting with a horrible Hawks team? I think the pieces the Pels have are far greater than the Hawks. Unless the Hawks throw an absurd contract his way, which I don't, I think the Pels are in the driver seat still.

If a team is ballsy enough to throw out more money at him then let them have him. New Orleans is in the best position to sign him.

I don't see anyone out bidding NOLA. He'd be dumb to not take this offer...unless he just hates NOLA

Character questions are abound with this kid still. We'll see. I'm kind of torn if the reports are accurate that he'd prefer to remain in Sactown over anything. Shows winning is very low on his priority list.

I love his potential and am excited about the signing even at $11mil, but I don't want him anywhere near us if the reasons he came to NOLA are money (1), strip clubs (2), money (3), and money (4).

I'm not buying those reports. I'm not saying he doesn't like the city, but he already got off on the wrong foot with the new regime.

quote:

Evans was put off by the Kings' decision not to offer him a multiyear contract before free agency began Sunday night, which allowed him to field offers. Evans, according to the source, was left to wonder where he stood in the eyes of the Kings' new ownership, management and Malone.

Ranadive's first call – after the sale of the Kings was approved – was to center DeMarcus Cousins, not Evans, which essentially let him know where he stood within the franchise.

It wasn't that Evans wasn't important, but Malone pointed out when he was hired that Cousins was the player who should be the "cornerstone" of the team.

Yet he's going to be okay being behind Jrue, Anthony and probably Eric?
