Pelicans are the best option for Rubio?

Fadeaway thinks so

quote:

1. New Orleans Pelicans

Rubio is an incredibly unselfish player. He’s never been high about himself, and he doesn’t exactly enjoy the spotlight, so he’d be great in the Pelicans just playing to make Zion Williamson a better player.

Jrue Holiday has been way better as a shooting guard and Elfrid Payton wasn’t the guy Alvin Gentry was expecting he’d be when he first signed him. The Pelicans are on the verge of playoff contention, so it’s a no-brainer for me.

How about bringing in Pistol Pete Jr?

Should've done it 2 years ago (or 3?) when he was a FA the 1st time...

I think Ricky Rubio is a potentially good fit in some ways depending on contract value, at this point in his career. Really poor 3p shooter for what I’m looking for though.

Obviously if you are trading with LAL he isn’t very necessary as you have a young version of him coming in. With Boston it could be interesting if you are re-directing Smart elsewhere or your plan is to bring Smart off the bench.

Having a good 3p shooting big man to bring in would be essential, and at least 1 bench sharpshooter.

Why sign Rubio?

Lonzo Ball is a better player with major upside.

I don’t think it is a coincidence the Pelicans now have the best training staff in the league. Need to keep Ingram and Ball healthy.

Lonzo Ball isn’t on our team. He’s on yours.

Lonzo is available for Davis and right now the Lakers have the best offer on the table.

Not the best assets but the best offer.

And he needs to stay that way.

Lonzo can’t stay healthy, can’t shoot, and has his a-hole father around causing drama.

Rubio is a matured, in all senses, version of Ball that won’t cost us other possibilities for AD should we want him.

Give it up. He's not going to be traded to the Lakers, nor should he. The Lakers offer sucks fricking arse. You're getting dumber and dumber by the day.

We don’t know what the offers are. But Boston can easily beat LAL if they choose.

Also, isn’t it a negative for you guys? We can get other assets and get a guy that is Ball-Esque in FA to go with the pieces we have?

They have one decent asset when they acquired the 4th pick. The rest blow.

Lonzo doesn't want to come here. Not very good. Kuzma thinks the Lakers would be giving up too much for AD. So, he essentially doesn't want to come here. Ingram has a blood clot problem. All the players the Lakers want to trade AD for will be out of the league in less than 5 years

Remind me again what makes their offer the "best"

well that’s not true and you know it
let’s try to discuss the options without the hyperbole

ball and Ingram are not “trash” and will likely have long and successful careers.
we can disagree on whether they are worth trading Davis for but not whether they are NBA players

I like Rubio, but don't think a poor shooting guard fits next to Zion

Why not resign Elf instead of going after Rubio?

Yeah he has never been considered a shooting guard

I think he meant a guard that doesn't shoot well. But I read it the same way you did.

Pels need to surround Zion with shooters. I pass on any guard without the potential of being a threat from the three line

To clarify, Rubio is a guard who cannot shoot. He would fit in with basically every guard Dell ever picked up, but I was hoping for a change with Griff.
