it makes sense for LA to get OAK because they are pretty short in the front court. He is at least a warm body who is somewhat good defensively

Lol this deal here is huge. This team is going to look so different before Dec. 26th. I'm getting excited.

Rockets clear about $3.5M with this deal, leaving room to offer Nene a deal starting at just under $13M/yr.
Nene and Gasol would be huge for Houston. This might turn out really good for all teams.

Coon's the best cap guy out there.
So something else has to be invloved that we havent heard....
Im not sure if this is right. We were under the cap, if this is broken down in 2 separate deals,Paul for Odom/Gasol. I believe the Lakers would receive a trade exception from this. We could then send Gasol to Houston for Scoula, Martin, and Dragic.

What is the salary cap? $59mm?
That's what I've heard.

He could be wrong.
He's pretty much the only guy out there questioning the deal

I don't think you can break it down into two trades.

you are right, they would have to wait 60 days. maybe they could just do it in 1 deal.

Does the deal work without Oak, numbers wise?

I don't see any way. I think you can only take on 125% or 150% of your outgoing salary.

Let's be honest. It's the Lakers getting Chris Paul. They'll allow it.
Posted on 12/8/11 at 7:37 pm to Jester
Always thought it was 125%, so no way the numbers work with Chris alone.
Posted on 12/8/11 at 7:39 pm to lsu31always
It's now 150% with the new CBA. And, I believe, that's only if you are above the cap or the move takes you above the cap.
Not sure how it works if we are below and it takes us JUST above the cap.

I think so too. If Hornets can get Iggy and/or a good center and the Rockets get M. Gasol or Nene then it works out great for everyone.

At $26 mil under the cap, Hornets would need to send at least $5.5 mil more to LA... and renounce all free agents.

If Oakfor is added to the deal lakers get no trade exception and deal is clean... NOLA could send Jarrett Jack and his $5 mil and keep Oak.

Steve Kyler: Another possibility is the Luis Scola goes to the Lakers in the deal, also makes it clean for both. More $$$ NOLA sends to LA, less renounce 1 minute ago

Scola probably makes the most sense for both teams

Wow, so we're back in buttfrick mode if that happened.
