Despite their injury plagued start and overall horrid play thus far this year, the Pels can still have a hell of a year if they "want" to. If they play like they showed they can against the Spurs and Cavs, we are easily a top 7/8 team in the league that can win at least 1 playoff series.

The problem with this team isn't talent or injuries right now. We have plenty of depth. We have the ability to mix and match against different styles and matchups. We have the ability to make liberal substitutions if guys are having off nights or are playing selfish/stupid. We have a top 5 two way player in the NBA in AD.

This team has no excuses now. It's time to put up or shut up. We are exactly 1/3 of the way through the season. There is no more grace period. No more new coach, new style, or dumb players excuses. The coach is paid to work with the roster he is given. You can't tell me with a straight face that this roster is worse than the Blazers, Kings, Timberwolves, Nuggets, Suns, Jazz, Mavs, Knicks, Celtics, Hornets, Magic, Pistons and Pacers. We just need to nut the eff up and win these games. I don't care if they have to lie, cheat, steal, flop, cheap shot, brawl in the locker room, play monty ball, etc to do so.

The team has no excuse to go worse than 34-20 to finish out the season (42-40). We also need to win a minimum of 1 playoff game. If we can't do that, this roster, coaching staff, gm, the marketing team, and the team fish tank needs to be blown the hell up.

I would take the T Wolves roster over ours. They have a very bright direction with a few budding superstars.

And holy hell, no way we finish 42-40 I doubt we even get 30 wins. We're almost halfway through the season and don't even have 10.

The Twolves have been shitty for a while and able to pick up those pieces. We have tried to go more of the free agent route. Since we have not had a lot of quality picks to utilize

T Wolves do have a nice roster with very high upside, but I think we should at least be better than them this season and next. Wiggins is only a 2nd year player and Towns is a rookie.

If we win home and away games at the same rate we did last year, that would be 39 wins. Factor in that we have the 2nd easiest schedule in the NBA left, how much worse the West is, and that we are relatively healthy now, we don't even have to be better than last year.

Playing the same quality ball we did last year gets us to 42-40. This isn't some incredible achievement. We've got 30 home games and 25 away games left with the same(or better) roster that had 45 wins last year with another bad coach and no Jrue for most of the season.

I personally think we get there. Do not forget how bad the guards we were running out to start the season before Reke and Jrue got healthy. We are 4-4 in games where both of them played. It's a small sample size, but at least a relevant one. How well the team did with Ish Smith and Norris Cole playing has little bearing on how well the team will play with Tyreke and Jrue. Last year is more telling.

And no, we aren't halfway through the season. We aren't even a third of the way through. Nice exaggeration.

Let's show that we are capable of putting together some sort of winning streak before talking playoffs. November 25 was the last time we've won back to back games and we can't really use injuries as an excuse anymore.

Why? Like I said, playoffs aren't hard. We don't even have to play better than we did last year without Jrue. We are in far better shape at this point in the season to make playoffs than last year. Last year, a KD injury is the only thing that even gave us a puncher's chance to make it. This year, we just need to not regress from last year with a better roster.

The roster definitely has playoff caliber talent, where's the leadership though? For the most part none of the Pels best players has ever won at this level.

Davis
Evans
Holiday
Gordon
Anderson

Not perennial losers, but no real team successes lead by the guys currently on the team.

that is valid point, though you will find nowhere on this board anyone advocating that this team is "well led"...davis is not a garnett-type vocal leader and evidently will never be. and thats fine. none of the other players you listed are either

the closest they have to that is pondexter, which is not ideal. they need a leader, just like that other team to our immediate west floundering in the SW division

The team whom is 10-4 over its last 14 now that they have what could be considered good health for the first time in 2 seasons?

The team who has a guy coach K had this comment on:

James has been as good a leader as we’ve had for this team,” Krzyzewski said. “He has a great personality. He is an upbeat guy, smart, and he’s obviously very, very talented. With this group, especially after Kevin left, he has asserted himself even more as an older guy. I know him, he knows me, because we have worked together. He’s really one of our key guys. There is no question about it.”

You're really reaching for this one brother.

Davis is still so young. Eventually he will develop a voice like Reke. Straight gas.

Boom it does not concern you that they're only around .500 with the easiest schedule?

No. If Houston is healthy and taking the games seriously they will beat a .500 team just as often as they'll beat a .350 team or a .200 team so I don't get too caught up in the SOS stuff.

When the games are important to the players on the team they're currently at worst 4th best team in the league. By seasons end,
