Demps isn't getting fired anyway. I talked to him before the season ended. He's staying

you keep saying this... It's one of the most ignorant things I've seen on this board in a long time. that's saying a lot given how this season has gone.

Nobody thinks you're lying about talking to Demps, we all just think you're naive for thinking both that he'd tell you the unadulterated truth and that he'd actually be in the loop on a decision that will be made by people above him that he likely wouldn't be informed about until it was very close to happening.

NBA sources say Tom Thibodeau is closing in on a five-year pact in the $10 million range annually to become coach/president of the Wolves.

$10 million per. We're probably paying around $5 million for Gentry/Demps. I wonder if JVG was the 2nd choice because he presumably wanted at least the $7 his brother got.

It may get even worse

With Tom Thibodeau nearing final agreement on a Minnesota deal, Jeff Van Gundy remains Houston's top co-candidate alongside Scotty Brooks.

So both of our top Gentry replacements will be off the table soon and helping teams in our conference.

I wonder if hiring JVG would have any effect on Morey? Would JVG want more power so Morey decides to move on?

FYI:

#Pelicans GM Dell Demps is not currently scheduled for a season-ending press conference. Demps has been scouting & leading draft meetings

That tweet needs to be paired with this one from after Gentry's presser.

quote:

Scott Kushner ?@ScottDKushner Apr 14

#Pelicans GM Dell Demps is expected to speak with the media next week. That could be much more illuminating.

A presser isn't scheduled but was expected.

Its expected because that's what all GMs do. Monty had a year end Presser, didn't he?

Right, Demps giving a presser and then getting fired later would be exactly what they did with Monty. But I think Kushner tweeted this today because he was expecting to hear about a Demps presser by now and didn't.

Scott Kushner ?@ScottDKushner 60 minutes ago

@davidfolse - Since the start of camp, Demps has spoken on record with the media twice. Once, first day of camp and again after Woj report

It could have just been bad information from a Pelicans PR staff that didn't know Demps' travel schedule, but I think Kushner was told there'd be a Demps presser next week, and tomorrow is a week after he'd have been told that and nothing is scheduled for tomorrow.

+1

On the bright side, maybe this means that the Wolves will draft Dunn and Murray will fall to the Pels.
