The Pelicans weren't kidding when they said they wanted defense, IQ, and Shooting. The philosophy is playing itself out tonight so far. I think we just got a lot more energy and IQ on defense with our 2 draft picks. And Murphy gives you elite shooting.

ESPN’s draft tracker on their website is a little behind the times.

He kinda reminds me of Wes Inundu, good defender with size and not a big threat from the outside.

I was going to start a thread mentioning that. It’s pretty clearly a trend.

He's going to give us kenrich Williams type of impact.

This Herb Jones defensive possession was so good I had to share. Cuts off Keon twice, forces reversal. Digs down in help on the drive, then closes out under control onto driver. Cut off again, reversal. Tags athletic roller in Pons. Finishes by sending Springer packing in help.

“Too many teams are going to pass because he’s a four-year player, because younger guys have more upside, because he wasn’t an unbelievable shooter,” Oats says. “But they’re all going to regret not taking him earlier. He is 100 percent going to play a long time in the NBA, because he’s going to be such a good teammate, do so many winning things, and there will always be a need for guys like that on championship teams. He’s a rotation guy on a playoff team right now, in my opinion.”

quote:

“He just wins games, and he does it in all kinds of different ways. Every big game for us, he showed up,” Oats says. The Pelicans “are just getting a guy who absolutely impacts winning, who does all the little stuff, who is an unbelievable teammate, an elite defender, a switchable defender, a guy who can definitely guard one through four and, depending on the matchup, one through five. He’s a playmaker on offense who will make every teammate around him better. He was as good in pick-and-rolls as Kira Lewis was for us the year he became a lottery pick at point guard. And at times better, because he can see over everything. He can handle it, he’s got a high IQ, he finds the open man and he can really pass.”

Pels should package him and Kira Lewis for a pack of cheese doodles so i dont have to root for fn bama players. Disgusting. Why do we pick those fricks!
