Why not? Sure, he won't be getting any considerations for an All-Star selection, but when are other options are CDR, Brandon Rush, or Aminu, why is Miller ruled out? I know Marion is the guy everyone wants at this point, but I'd be pretty shocked if he signed with us for 2 year/$4.6 million.

I am, just wondering why he tapped out

Honestly I remember Darius Miller played extremely good D against KD and other above average SFs towards the back end of last season
We know he can shoot from the corner so why can't he be a SF for us?

Miller doesn't really do anything well. He's not bad if he is one of 2 or 3 options, but slotting him in without any alternatives is silly. Cut a big or move a guard and try to find more help there.

Did you watch him last season? He was terrible, he offers nothing. He couldn't find a niche role on one of the worst teams in the NBA who had a glaring need at his position.
At least Aminu can rebound, finish at the rim, and play some semblance of defense.
Rush can give you 10 ppg and shoot the 3 pretty efficiently
CDR does a bunch of things ok.
At this point, you have to find a 3 that at least does a little of something. Miller had a chance to show something last season and failed

quote:42 was screwing up all over twitter yesterday. He was claiming the Roberts signing with Charlotte could be a S&T when the rules say the contract has to be greater than 2 years. When someone brought that up to him, he claimed that Charlotte could simply change the contract to make it a S&T (even though others reported they were using an exception on the deal). He and MM spend too much time trying to always claim they are right that they look like fools when they are wrong (see Brand and Oden "signings").
Cause he didn't know. Just tweeted out that he misunderstood the trade rules. We get nothing from Wash.

Nonsense, I can put on stilts, but it doesn't make me a 7 footer. Everyone plays in shoes.
What if he puts on a stetson hat? Is he 6'9"?

There was a significant portion of this board that swore by the imminent $3.5M offer to Oden. It was completely irrational.

right,
No one is ever listed as their w/o shoes height.
Standing reach, wingspan and weight are more important measurements than height anyways.
Hilton Armstrong is 7' b/c he has a giraffe neck. THose extra 3 inches he has in his neck provide nothing outside of a lot of room to wear a scarf.

Let's be honest, have you watched Rush (or CDR) in the last couple of seasons? If so, I apologize, and I'll stand corrected. He's (Rush) played 40 games over the last two season, and shot 34% from 3 last year (went 0/2 the year before, so I won't even count that). Meanwhile, Miller shot 35.3% over the last 2 years. I get that Miller hasn't wow'd us much, and struggled finding playing time, but how much of that can be attributed to Monty's love affiar with Aminu? Monty himself even admitted that he probably played Aminu too much because of his personal feelings for him.
As far as Aminu goes, he just doesn't fit on this team. Maybe off the bench, but at this point I'd rather just cut our losses with him and move on. I'm pretty sick of watching him dribble it off of his feet.
While none of these guys are going to make or break our playoff hopes, I think you're underselling Miller just a bit, and overselling the other just a bit. I guess at this point my FA preferences would be, in order: Marion, Hamilton, CDR, Miller, Rush, Aminu. If we can't get Marion or Hamilton, I'd like to see something along the lines of one of our bigs to the Bucks for Delfino.

I don't think he's out of the league just yet, but he did have his opportunity to show why he should stay and he didn't take advantage of it. I think he has enough BB IQ and hustle to be a passable backup if he hits the 3, but he ended the year at 32.5% from 3.

I do agree that the criticism of him is well deserved, and maybe I am the one overselling him, but I'd like to see what he could do in year 3.

You think Miller ever got enough consistent run to get comfortable and confident? To me it seemed like he always had an eye on the bench waiting for Monty to yank him.

Whether Monty was a factor or not, Monty is still going to be the coach so he needs to learn to deal with it or he's not a player that can help us. The bottom line with Miller is that he's not a stat sheet stuffer which means he needs to hit 3s to have value, which he didn't do well last season.

I hear you with Monty (whether I like it or not).
My point is, the way last season went with injuries, I think Miller shoulda seen a little more time on the floor. Young players sometimes need to play thru their mistakes. Last season was a perfect time for him to see what exactly we had in him. I mean we knew what we had in Aminu. Aminu kept getting chance after chance after chance.

I want to know who will be on our roster opening night.

Don't worry, they're working on it.

No confirmation, but it looks like the Pelicans are working to improve their roster beyond acquiring center Omer Asik.
