I don’t think many people thought Adams wouldn’t be good. I think people were mostly just worried if he was worth the contract. So far I would say yes

There were many saying he can't stretch the floor, old school centers don't belong in the league, he can't score, he doesn't rebound as good as x, etc.

As real as a couple of those may be, it overlooks everything that he is and does well. Dude is 100% a team player, 100% hustle, and 100% going to bang in the middle.

It's such a refreshing change from some other bigs that just sucked or went through the paces. Dude wants to be here and he wants to win.

Liked what I saw tonight. Different feel with the team. Loved the fight. Was down by 11 at a point and won by 15. And it's not like the Pels played excellent. Turned the ball over a lot, missed a lot of free throws, but really was able to over come that.

That third quarter was excellent. The ability to come out of halftime still checked in, really made me happy. Remember SVG has only been here for what, a month? It's gonna take time for the Pels to get rid of old habits and really be confident in this new system. But tonight showed me we are moving into the right direction.

Before the season, I mentioned how excited I am for Ingram. Loved what he was saying, his determination to become a leader. He is blossoming. Love to see it.

They are going to make it a point to make Ball a thing. Just the little things I hear. Stan really wants to make people eat their words on him.

One of the best things that Lonzo has going for him is that Stan believes in him. That was evident in interviews even before we hired him.

I think that everyone agrees that Lonzo is going to improve this year, and we can already see signs of that. The question is: how much?

This was one game. Zion had 3 fouls with 8 min left in the 2nd qtr, including two questionable offensive fouls, one in which he slipped the screen and Lowery literally jumped sideways into him.

In the last preseason game, BI had 3 early fouls and had to sit for extended periods. He looked like arse that night and Zion carried us with 31. It’s been one game and Zion was in foul trouble. It caused him to only play 30 min.

I’m just happy we have two guys who can carry us and one can have an average night and we can still beat playoff games. I’d just advise anyone to hold off on the hot takes after game 1.

Can someone explain the challenge rule, is it only shooting fouls or can you challenge any foul?

I'm not sure the rule, but I was thinking if that call could be challenged, it should have been. Big call to get Zion his 3rd foul and out the rest of the half. It was very clearly not a foul on Zion. Seemed like a no brainer, so my assumption is that this type of call is just not up for a challenge?

Game replay is starting on FSNO. I missed parts of the first half (I know -- I didn't miss that much), but I'm going to watch it again.

The thing that stood out to me on the replay that I didn't pay enough attention to the first time was Zion's rebounding. He just looks a lot better at boxing out than he did last year. Zion averaged only 6.3 boards per game last year, and I don't think the 10 in this game was a fluke. I think he's going to be a double-double machine this year.

Thought that team rebounding was great last night

Part of it is him improving, and the other part is having a center who's competent enough to box out and know when to go for the board himself or when his teammate has it.

I just hope with Adams here Hayes catches on as well. He will be a great mentor if the kid pays attention.

I'll wager they average 18 rpg between them (Zion and Adams).

I think fundamentally you can see both the improved athleticism from the better conditioning and just a more aware presence.

...also helps team wide that we basically had four players crowding to the rim to get the defensive rebound instead of Gentry who would have half or more of the team leaking out into the break while we’d be giving up offensive boards left and right. Stan mentioned fixing that and so far it looks very much like he did.

Also feels like when you aren’t simply yelling at your players to play with pace for paces sake you actually allow your team to reserve some energy to better hustle back in transition on D and fight through more than one rotation on defense.
